Hamhuis is as good as we have ever had sadly. Jeff Brown may have been a #1, same for Lidster - Bieksa#3
Hamhuis is a solid d man, but not a true number 1. I thought maybe Jovo in his prime, but even he wasn't true number 1. I also realize there are only a few true #1 dmen in the league and are hard to come by. I like STL pair of Shattenkirk and Pietriangelo (however you spell it). |

Ross was amazing
One of my fav raptors
Hopefully he becomes bigger then T mac and VC - RF_4eva
I did like the dunk over the painting of him dunking over a painting, but the pair of dunks Ross did was pretty spectacular. |

Now that Edler is under contract why would you trade a established D-man who consistently in the top 5 for Norris consideration for a guy who has potential based on his rookie year? - bloatedmosquito
Sounds like Oilers contracts |

What sucks is that he has to wait before he can get a starting job with derozan in there... |

Here's the deal, there has to be close to 30#1 d men. If not your ranking system needs updating |

Yup. There's a difference between a #1 D and a franchise D.
There aren't a lot of franchise D. Maybe 3 or 4 in the league. |

I guess I can't argue that every team has a #1 d, so there would be 30 of them. The point of franchise d man is more accurate to what I was trying to say. |

Exactly. I believe we have at least 2 of the best 30 d men in the league. Bieksa is close |

Who would you list as franchise?
Weber, Chara, Karlsson, Lidstrom if he wants to unretire? |

No every team doesn't have one. However with 30 teams there should be 30 d men who if devided or mock drafted would be #1.
Edler and Hamhuis are both without question in the top 30. And Bieksa is awful close |

Edler has not looked great this year. Starting to look better. Every d is also only as good as his partner, and bieksa and hamhuis are great together, would put them in top 10 for d pairs in the league. |

Yup. That would be my list. Karlsson is only by virtue of his offense, but I think he'll continue to improve defensively.

Edler has looked great offensively. It's not like he was the only Canuck D struggling the first few games, and he wasn't the worst, either.
He's looked solid of late. |
