You really want to hear players/coaches/GMs shout all the homophobic, racist and otherwise extremely offensive crap they spew on the ice? Goody for you buddy, I mean, hockey players already have a bad enough rep for mostly being uneducated or undereducated goons, do we really need to reinforce that image? It's not going to make the game better or make more people watch it, and besides, knowing how many arseholes Vancouver has as "fans" anyways, do you want them taking over Rogers Arena and turning it into like Old Trafford during a England vs Ireland soccer match?

How's that different from any other major sport? There are loads of hockey players who go on to careers that require a high level of intelligence.

I'd say hockey players have a far better reputation than basketball, baseball, and football players...

Yeah, very nice job. I wish you had had better news about some of our higher picks (look at you Sauve), but I guess with dark horses like Tanev and Corrado doing so well, you can't get too greedy.

Parros and Westgarth spring to mind. Joe Juneau is apparently crazy smart as well.

Juneau was a rock star, hockey player and Rocket Scientist.
Enforcer Ken Baumgaurtner was a lawyer I believe.

However there are exceptions in every sport because basketball and football players are clearly the dumbest yet Marc Gasol has his Doctorate in Neuroscience

From my understanding the past few years Edler has finished with a good amount of Norris votes. Not enough to win but enough to be noticable. I'll need to do a little Googling to back up my statement.
- bloatedmosquito

Not even remotely close. Out of 133 voters, 4 people voted him 5th place, for 4 points. The winners are generally over 1000 points. Those are the only 4 Norris votes he's ever gotten. So, no, he does not get Norris consideration. Ever.

Randy Gregg of the 80s Oilers was a doctor. An actual doctor.

That's why the loss to Dal was such a bitter pill. With the upcoming schedule, the timing is right for a losing streak. And we all know that this team has that potential.
- bloatedmosquito

I thought the same thing when I looked at next weeks schedule

He was on a few analysts short-lists the last two years, before his play started to falter in the second half.

Getting votes means he got consideration. Not sure how you can deny that.

4 points. Total. His entire career. Mark Streit had 15 points last year.

"gets consideration every year"?

Tonight is a tough game for me. We always have trouble at times matching up with STL, and in one of my points only pool I loaded up on STL (Oshie, Perron, Berglund and Shattenkirk) and would like some points but want the Canucks to win. We seem to have trouble at times with rookie goalies, not sure if tonight will be any different. Thinking about going down to see if I can get some scalper tickets for cheap. Glad to see Kes played well last game, hope to see the same tonight. Talk of Booth being back soon, still trying to figure out if I care. Where does he play, who gets bumped.

IMO we have no Norris defense on this team. Lot of 2/3/4 guys, but who would you say was our last bonafide #1?

I voted for him as most have........for the most overrated and overpaid team. Now that Gomez is bought out it would seem the most overpaid award is a sure thing for him
