It's moot because Av is useless and he'll never put Kesler on the wing.
Lapierre is a perfect 4th line C. If AV would consider moving Kesler to the wing, Gillis would have to acquire a 2nd or 3rd line C. If Buffalo misses the playoffs I'd be asking what they want for Ott. - DrChristianTroy
Ott isn't really a natural center though, he's used on faceoffs but plays the wing. Hecht is actually the center on his line in Buffalo. The price would also be pretty high since Buffalo wants more grit and that's why they traded Roy for him so I doubt they move him now. Hell, they're so desperate for toughness they signed John "can't make a pass" Scott.

When you play with Kesler. Its unlikely your going to be successful. Guy just doesnt know how to distribute the puck.... |
|
|
|
Who's your 3rd and 4th line centers then? - Nucker101
If not Ott, I'd acquire Vermette from PHO (along with Torres) to fortify our bottom 6 for the playoff run. Vermette is a great faceoff guy... He's slick enough to play with offensive guys and good enough defensively to play that role. |

Almost all power forwards develop at a slower pace than small, skilled guys. Plus he's just once player so even if he is a physical force every night, you're not suddenly a tough team. |

Perhaps. But what lines are you going to put together without Kes at second line centre. |

I'd love to acquire either one of those 2 players, especially Vermette. He's been used in a defensive role at even strength throughout most of his career and plays on the PP and PK as well as wing or center. Another top 9 versatile forward would really go a long way for this team and gives AV a ton of options. |

Tough is a mentality... It has nothing to do with size. Kassian chooses to be assertive & "tough" once in a blue moon. I don't know what to say about the rest of the roster... It's disheartening how many pansies are on this team. |

The rest of the lineup would look pretty weak, plus the wingers would be over loaded once Booth is back and centers would be very weak. Look at the center depth of all the recent cup winners. |

Jesus, you don't think Raymond is a "real second liner" but you're sold on Schroeder and Hansen as 2/3 of a second line? Do you watch the games or just listen to the idiots on Vancouver sports radio? |

I'm clearly not a Canucks fan, and I don't want to be a troll, but I think Mason Raymond is either over-valued in Vancouver or under-appreciated everywhere else in the league. I don't think Vancouver will get much of an upgrade for him in trade, and really, he is pretty useful up and down the line-up. They might get a 2nd rounder for him, but how would that help a Cup run? |

Raymond is a coin toss. Hes showing us shades this year of what he did two years ago beofre he broke his back. I think the canucks would be fulish to trade him. If he can keep this up and continue to improve I want him in a canucks jersey. |

Thoughts on Ryan O'Reilly as our 3rd line shutdown center? - AlexF
Moot point. If you read the Leaf's board you would know that as soon as Gardiner is healthy ,they're trading him for O'Reilly. So the message board says anyway. |

Mason Raymond has finally fully recovered from his broken back against Boston. He looks very dangerous every time he's on the ice, he's grown into his body and this is the best he's ever played, including his 25 goal 55 point year with Samuelsson and Kesler. He now shoots the puck hard, and with his speed and puckhandling, thats an awesome combination for a sniper. If I were Vancouver I would resign Raymond, even with Jensen coming in next year. Raymond's now the player you hoped he would develop into and he's proven everyone wrong after the tragic injury. I see 25-30 goal scorer in Raymond's game now if in top 6, he's a Canuck developed player and they should keep him. Even on the 3rd line he adds scoring depth going forward and plays excellent defense as all Canuck developed players seem to. If the Canucks don't re-sign him, I see the Calgary Flames snatching him up in the offseason. He already trains with many of there players and is a local Calgary product who has always shined against Calgary. The Canucks cannot allow Raymond to sign in the division with his best years still to come.
As for the game tonight. Im not worried about the Canucks, they are an elite team. They haven't peaked yet as they always start season slower and pick it up. When watching the game you cant help but notice Vancouver dominate with there skill when they needed to, 3rd period and OT they absolutely dominated. St. Louis is a skilled team, but not on the same high end level as Vancouver. By regular seasons end, I think the Canucks will establish themselves as a team to be reckoned if they can avoid injury to star players. |

I actually see Raymond's game on a different level then 2 years ago. I know its only 14 games in, but ive never scene Raymond skate with this much strength and balance. Raymond's shot until this year has not been that heavy, now he has one of the best snap shots on the team. Im very impressed with Raymond's game right now. Canucks would be foolish to trade him. |

I agree that Raymond should definitely be re-signed if he keeps this up. I certainly wouldn't want Raymond on Calgary next season if he's back in 20-25 goal form. His two-way game has always been solid and if he gets back to consistently scoring again then he's a very valuable player. |

I agree, they can dominate with skill compared to other teams 3rd lines. Raymond-Schroeder-Hansen is a great 3rd line. Plus they all can play both sides of the puck!
