I've been disappointed in his point/goal production since he got here. I said it 3 years ago, I'll say it now...he's one of the best all around, 3 zone players in the league, but for $5.25 I expect more scoring. Love everything he does do, and like Philco, I respect him for all the little things he does right, just think he needs to light the lamp more. - Ogilthorpe2

Last I checked, he had 3 more goals than Patrick Sharp, the team sniper earning $5.9M a copy. Last I checked he doesn't take undisciplined, momentum killing penalties when the game is in hand, like #10. Last I checked, Sharp has never been put out there 3 on 5 on the PK. Last I checked, the guy he replaced Martin Havlat hasn't been worth a crap ever since he left Chicago.
There isn't one team in the league who wouldn't take Hossa as a huge addition to their Top 6 and a guy you can be put out in the last minute of a game to protect a one goal lead. Unlike Messrs. Sharp and Kane.

Well it's no secret on this site that I wouldn't have given that kind of coin to Sharpie either. If I were running the show, I would have traded him in place of Ladd/Buff. But when we got Hossa I was expecting the 40 G, 30A Hossa....he's not been that guy, or really anything close to it. |

Again...elite player and great pk guy...but as a former 7-time 30 goal man...he hasn't cracked 30 in 3 seasons with us. Need more production from this "TOP 6 GOD" |

I think you would see numbers close to what you were expecting if he played with Toews and Kane all of the time, but thats not how this team is structured right now. All that matters is the team record. And considering they are 12-0-3, they don't even have anybody with 10 goals as yet.

Good game Hawks.
Kings were sloppy the first almost 2/3 of the game.
Kings came back but wasn't enough.
Hats off. |

I can't believe this board is seriously debating the merits of Hossa.
He is ROUTINELY the best on the ice for us.

How much more production do you need from #81 to improve on the 12-0-3 record? I will have a word with him next weekend and tell him to get his ass in gear. And if he buys into that speech, I will give the same one to Jerome Enigla seeing how badly everyone on this board wants that washed up stiff. And then i can use the same one on the $98M man Zach Parise - gotta love the rate of return on that investment if you are a Wild fan. |

Even Sharp has more points than Hoss....81 can do better. |

Hossa is playing a lot of hard minutes, too many in such a demanding schedule. He needs to come off the penalty kill, there are younger guys that should be handling these duties. Q needs to manage his ice time better, he is a big body that plays hard, and he is getting up there in age. When this record thing is finally over and Carcillo is back I would start looking at getting him some nights off during 3 in 4's. I want a healthy and fresh Hoss for the playoffs. |

I think Sharp's contract is going to prove to be as big a problem as Hossa's down the road. |

Certainly overall, Hossa is the second bet player on this team.
He has no real shot, no moves on the breakaway (thus don't put him on the SO), not bad - but not great - at the hack-and-whack - he needs to surprise the goalie with a quick wrist shot, hopefully using an opponent as a screen, to score consistently, or an open net after a quick pass by Kane. |

Hopefully those contract problems are well into the future and those two help the Hawks win another Cup before then.

Somebody needs to go over to the Oilers blog and give Cloutier some oxygen. Man, he is bordering on senility with that blog. |

Hossa might not have super numbers but he is irreplaceable out there. He does more than just score goals. He also has a knack for scoring huge goals in clutch situations.
Sharp I could actually see the case for being expendable. |

Our window is next 2-3 years...before 88 and 19 need new deals.

Or we need the cap to go way up, that would help ease the hit of those two contracts. Just proves the point, that this is a draft and developement league. |
