Actually he has more assists then goals if you check the nhl leaderboards and he has been doing that more and more the last couple seasons. He has been becoming more and more of an all around player, not just a goal scorer.

If the Flames win their games in hand they are 6th or 7th in the west and right in the mix...they are not trading him now. Not to mention if you have actually watched them this year they have been good other than goal tending. Team is .500 with terrible tending thus far

Lol vanek is a proven 30+ year goal scorer since his rookie season and will command way more then 5 mill per year when he hits the open market in 2 seasons. He will get payed what he is already getting payed 7 mill per or more. Anyone who thinks he will get less then that is on drugs.

I didn't say anything about the open market when Vanek becomes a UFA. I said if the Sabres keep some of his salary/cap hit in a trade Vanek would be a more viable option to a wider range of teams for the rest of this season and the last season of his contract. His salary wouldn't change whatsoever.

He gave Calgary a list of five or maybe just three teams he is willing to go too. And they are all elite teams and have been. I just don't think he would ok a trade to buffalo, as I don't see them as one of the top elite teams in the league.
He will not sign with Calgary after this year so he is gone anyways, so they will want to try to get at least something for him. Bos, Pitt, Philly, van, maybe a couple others, that's where he will land and I don't think it will be for ad much as people think because he will just be a rental.
I look at iggy the same way I did ray bourque being traded to Colorado, and I feel Calgary fans should too, as watching ray hoist the cup with the avalanche was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in my life, I was younger and he was a god, and no player was ever more deserving, being honest, I had tears on my face.
That is what iggy is to Calgery, and that is why he will being going to one of only a few teams, and I don't tend to think buffalo is one of them. Sorry, but I've been wrong before.
