Imagine if Tavares had bobby ryan and Corey perry like Getzlaf has? He might be up there with Crosby. - Isles316
If he had those two, he'd blow Crosby away. Not even a contest. |

my bad...im used to having go to extremes to get my point across.
point is, if giving up a productive player like grabner who has real talent would fetch us a real defensemen, id be up for it, bc of the depth (and likelihood a few will stick) in the prospect pool. - LetsGoIsles

Anybody else find it interesting that weight was the one who ripped into them during the 1st intermission? Maybe cappy was heating up a calzone or something - Vukota
Well, he should either heat up 5 calzones at a time and put the weight back on or buy himself some new suits. He looks like he wearing his big brothers clothes. Only worst dressed Islander head coach was Rick Bowness. He owned like 2-3 suits, tops. One jacket was cut like a tuxedo with tails...hilarious....
C'mon, at LEAST try and look like a professional.... |

So did Cappy.. he didnt have the career that Weight had, but its not like he was hired off the street with no Hockey background.
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
Cappy played what like 5 games in the pros??
He was hired because nobody with any integrity would work for such a farce of an organization. What accomplished coach would coach here??? NOBODY. |

Ummm he played 2 NHL games that is it. So Weight has the NHLcareer and knows NHL Style of play while Cappy only knows the AHL style hence why we play that style - kasperrko
this is a stupid crutch to lean on..would you like me to list the number of Stanley cup winning coaches who didn't play a game in the nhl or had a brief nhl stint?? |

You are correct, it is a stupid argument. Though i think it could help to an extent to have a players experience in some circumstances? Doesn't change the fact that Capuano is not a good coach. That fact still remains coaching our team. |

Logic gets lost on here from time to time but from what i see reality seems to be the harder pill to swallow for alot of people on here. |

I agree. Games played in NHL should have not bearing on how good of coach you are.
It comes down to how well you know they game. Wayne Gretzky is best player all time and yet he failed miserably as a coach.
I do think cappy know the game. His problem is he wants to be the players friend.
That's not how it works. Also a good coach doesn't have to listen to he gm or owner on who to play on what line. B/c what he believes works what can mgt say.
Reason why isles insist on using ahl coaches is wang and snow want to put there 2 cents in. What's scary is cappy had more wins as a coach for isles than Gordon. Lol. |

 Really??
NHL teams use AHL coaches so it's an easier transition for younger players into the big leagues. The NFL is taking to that strategy too (Harbaugh, Carol, Kelly). Regardless, Capuano is an ape, doesn't know (frank) all about line chemistry, line matchups, or lineups periods.
The team this coach needs will come when we get a new owner. |

We had Laviolette. He's no slouch....believe he's got a cup and didn't have a prolific NHL career as a player. |

Ryan o'reilly wants Tavares type money. Highly doubtful the isles would entertain paying him that much. But besides the contract it makes sense. Strome can play wing as well. Neilson #3 center, cizikas #4 and now you have 4 good centers playing at their spot. |

not saying you need to be a player to be a coach - all I'm saying is in this instance, I think Weight is a little more knowledgeable in the hockey tangible department than Capuano. Weight knows this team, he's skated with these guys. Capuano is a loser, nothing more. |

Probably not, but keep in mind Tavares' contract is absolute highway robbery. His AAV should easily be $1-$1.5m more per year. |

This is rough the Isles have the pieces to get this guy. Signing him would be the problem.
