and Boulton made that nice pass to get Martin on the breakaway! I'm fine with Boulton thus far - I hate Reasoner.

I think at this stage in his career he's a better skater than Chara was. Chara may have been stronger though. His farther kept him in pretty good shape with wrestling.
- keaner17

I remember the Isles sending Chara and Muckler? (what ever his name) to the Sens. like it was yesterday.

I was in the living room ranting at my brother in Laws about how pissed I was.

And I'm getting lip back, "Whats the big deal Muckler sucks and Chara's no big deal!

I still get aggravated whenever that trade comes up

Reasoner has the same problem as Rolston:

done (adjective)-

1 : arrived at or brought to an end
2 : doomed to failure, defeat, or death
3 : gone by : over
4 : physically exhausted
5 : cooked sufficiently
6 : conformable to social convention

I personally think number 5 fits best, myself....

Matt Martin is very underrated. He was a difference maker on the penalty kill and setting the tone all over the ice. That first shift of the second period was exactly what the Islanders needed and that line came through. Great contract extension by Snow on getting Martin signed. Kid is heart and soul player. Doesn't make up for Snow extending KO and letting PA walk, but it is a start lol
- the ceez

Not sure why Matt Martin plays only 10 minutes a night either. I'm also impressed with Colin McDonald. He throws his body around and shows he can throw a few points on the scoresheet as well. He's been a very good bottom 6 forward.

As we have said, the isles probably have enough talent in their forwards to make the playoffs but the defense and goaltending needs to be much better. Nabokov was good again when it mattered. He needs to be that guy every night and make some saves he shouldn't for this team

I thought they played an even more impressive game than the NJD OT win. They had a man size lineup that handled the Rangers defensively. They weren't throwing the puck around soon as it got on their sticks like it was a live hand grenade. Lubo is also becoming more integrated into the offense (only his 3rd game) so they are more like five forwards making it a bear for the opposition defense to handle. Have to say for Rangers Callahan and Hagelin are really sparking the team but Franz is becoming like Callahan alot more. Think our third line is could become one of the best third lines in the league which adds alot.

Gotta say they lost to CAR on Tuesday but CAR could become the best team in the conference the way they play. Alot like the Rangers with a top workhorse goalie and their forwards are an impressive group. They also beat NJD in Newark the night after they beat us, so our loss may not have been as bad as we thought..

how are frans neilson and ryan callahan even in the same sentence?

Gallof talking some good stuff on twitter...saying he doesn't expect a forward to be traded, but if it happened, not gonna be KO or Bailey, but Grabner. No sources or anything, just pure speculation. Kind of the feeling I've had since last year.

I hate to pile on him but, aside from being different players, Callahan is so much more valuable than Nielsen. That statement is way off the mark.

Anybody else find it interesting that weight was the one who ripped into them during the 1st intermission? Maybe cappy was heating up a calzone or something
- Vukota

Come on now. Capuano lost a lot of weight. It was probably a veggie burger.

Not good Vukota that needs to come from Jack. If I'm Jack and I have to go down I'm going down swinging. I'm not going to stand back and let things fall apart without doing something.

Howie Rose was on WFAN this morning and basically said capuano told weight to do what he did. I don't think capuano has it in him to freak out that way.

I think I would hold on to Grabner though. He has played pretty well. I really dont think the Islanders will move him though. Amazing penalty killer very fast and can score goals on occasion LOL

very special occasions.

He just needs to abandon the deak and shoot. When a player with that much speed is coming in on a goalie, beat em low stick side or five hole with a fast snap shot.

Maybe Nielsen can take him aside and show him some moves

I don't think he has the intelligence to tell the team what they need to do. Weight played the game, knows the game. Capuano is trying to remember his lines for his next Jenny Craig commercial.

I agree. I don't think there are any other players in the league with the ability to create chances for themselves the way he does. And the isles top 5 pk% is due largely to how well he pressures d men into making quick decisions.

which could translate into a legitimate defense man....isles have A LOT more forwards waiting to play IE nino than they do with defensemen...

hey, if its the right deal...see ya later grabner.

having said that, i dont want to see neilson/ko slowly die on the island.

Over the past few seasons IMO the Isles have played their best hockey when size and toughness are inserted into the lineup.

When we try to be a finesse team we get pushed around and manhandled. Guys like JT & Moulson get steamrolled.

I have no problem with Boulton in the lineup just like I had no problem with Gillies in the line up.

With Martin, Boulton, Cartner, and Finley (if he continues to improve) Isles have ample toughness and all 4 need not dress EVERY game. I'd love to see Gallant brought up for a cup of coffee to see how he handles a 4th line roll.

Hockey is still a game of intimidation and until that changes. I think Two or three guys who are willing to drop the gloves need to be in the lineup every night. If they can all contribute by also playing hockey. Then dress em all. Boston is loaded with those kind of players.

And one more thing. The Rangers are a different team since Dubinsky, Prust and Rupp are gone. Thats three foot soldiers lost. Three physical guys that havent been replaced. Despite their 5 game win streak IMO, I dont believe the Rangers are as good as last season.

That's the point though, I'm not sure it makes sense to dump Okposo for nothing. Grabner has value. Not saying I want to trade him. Just that he makes sense as the odd-man out if we need to move a forward that doesn't suck.

i also love the toughness on the team and was really happy to see finley play decently... as for gallant, if he ever comes up its for one thing and one thing only...
