The problem is not that Amac is not that good. The problem is that we rely on Amac to be a top 4 defenseman when thats not who he is. I have always said that when this team is good Amac should be a 5-6 d man. He would be a very steady and reliable 3rd pair D man. The only part of his game that really drives me nuts is his shots are constantly blocked. He never gets the puck to the net - islanders3024
thats fair...and if thats the case then everyone should agree that a 5/6 dman is replaceable/tradeable. it may work in the islanders favor to continue playing him as top 4, showcasing that he has the ability to play those minutes, in hopes of getting more value for him. |

Anybody else find it interesting that weight was the one who ripped into them during the 1st intermission? Maybe cappy was heating up a calzone or something - Vukota
Weight is always the one who tears into the officials. It allows Cappy to keep his mild mannered aura
I always love seeing the uncomfortable look on Cappy's face as Weight lights up an official. It's like watching the designated driver get fidgety when one of his drunk buddies starts crap at a bar. |

replaceable, yes. Tradeable, meh. I don't see any need to trade a bargin bin dman who has a very cheap contract. He's a depth player at a decent price so unless a team specifically requested him (and that ain't happeing), I'd consider him a useful player for defensive depth. |

Not good Vukota that needs to come from Jack. If I'm Jack and I have to go down I'm going down swinging. I'm not going to stand back and let things fall apart without doing something. |

exactly...and id include cizikas in that trio and turn it into a foursome. cizikas is extremely aware of the situation at all times; plays hard nose and gives everything he has for every shift...the guy simply doesnt take a shift off.
he showing me signs of a ryan callahan type of player... - LetsGoIsles
Good point. I'm very impressed with Casey. |

I can't watch Okposo anymore.
I'd like to think he's playing on the second line just to showcase and ship him out but I know that's not going to happen.
It's sad to see Grabner get bumped down to third line.
I'd like to see the following lines:
First line: Moulson, JT, Boyes
Second Line: Ullstrom, Nielsen, Grabner .
Third line: Bailey, Cizikas, Okposo (hopefully not for long)
Fourth Line: Martin, Aucoin (although I don't think he should be on the team), McDonald |

[quote=Bags502]Bailey/Frans/Okposo - They seem lost... KO is done, Bailey seems to be getting better every game. Frans seems like he is trying to do to much. He needs to simplify his game.
The reason Frans is having to do too much is because KO is his linemate. He has to make up for Kyles lack of execution. I would like to see Grabs on this line with Bailey and Frans, i think it would make a pretty good uptempo line. Or Martin but i don't want to break up that 4th line since it's rolling right now.
It drives me nuts to see Moulson being more physical then KO. What's Moulson 140lbs soaking wet (including his hair). |

Yea I can see that... He is basically playing his game and also making sure Okposo doesnt get out of position which makes him out of position...
Oddly enough HockeyDataBase lists Moulson at 6.01 and 210 and Okposo at 6.00 and 210... Okposo looks much bigger then Moulson tho. |

Its ridiculous that the coach wasn't laying into them and an assistant did it. After that first period, I would have expected Cappy to be punching out players because he was so angry, not letting his assistant yell at them. |

I do not think Ryan O'Reilly is a savior, but he would fit great on Islanders second line and that would allow Frans to head to the third. Not sure if you make a move for him or you just wait for Strome and/or Brock Nelson to fit those roles. Okposo definitely needs a change of scenery and is under contract for a few years so maybe Isles can put a package around him. Wishful thinking I would guess, but never hurts to ask lol. |

Moulson to me needs to step up a little bit. Just seems to be off and it was kind of strange to see Tavares with Boyes in the overtime even though I think boyes clicks with Tavares more.
I beleive Boyes will get resigned for another year or so. I really like his play.
Frans should be on the third line no doubt about it, He is a third line center not second and Okposo should be either on the bench or demoted to fourth line duties |

Don't see anything positive said about Boulton. Guy stepped up and had an epic battle with Asham. Asham was only Ranger who was willing to drop the gloves and was non existent after that fight. Definitely felt the Islanders got "bigger in their skates" after that fight and the hitting really picked up. Boyle not wanting to mess with Finley was good to see also. Hasn't been too often that the Islanders were the bullies on the ice against the Rangers. Good move by the coaching staff imo. I know everyone rips on Boulton, but he did his job last night. |

I thought they played an even more impressive game than the NJD OT win. They had a man size lineup that handled the Rangers defensively. They weren't throwing the puck around soon as it got on their sticks like it was a live hand grenade. Lubo is also becoming more integrated into the offense (only his 3rd game) so they are more like five forwards making it a bear for the opposition defense to handle. Have to say for Rangers Callahan and Hagelin are really sparking the team but Franz is becoming like Callahan alot more. Think our third line is could become one of the best third lines in the league which adds alot.
Gotta say they lost to CAR on Tuesday but CAR could become the best team in the conference the way they play. Alot like the Rangers with a top workhorse goalie and their forwards are an impressive group. They also beat NJD in Newark the night after they beat us, so our loss may not have been as bad as we thought.. |

i agree... Moulson needs to do a little more and I think he knows that. Last night he was more physical then he has been. JT and Boyes played together in OT just for the speed factor... Boyes is a lot faster and a better skater then Moulson is. |

and Boulton made that nice pass to get Martin on the breakaway! I'm fine with Boulton thus far - I hate Reasoner. |

It was implied in the Newsday articles this morning. I'm thinking Weight gave them the verbal beating because he's the assistant- in other words, Capuano probably yells at them all the time. The assistant is usually closer to the players, so when he starts berating them, it probably has more of an impact.
PS- This is what THE CAPTAIN is supposed to do, by the way. I guess Streit doesn't have that in him, which could be some of the problem here. Oh well, Tavares will probably be the captain by next year anyway, so maybe that will also change some things. |

Best move CAppy did was bench Reasoner. I think he is done here and will be riding the bench for a while. |

Okposo needs to be in the Nassau Coliseum press box, even during away games.
