Untouchable in what regard...???

I would trade almost any prospect for a proven player that would fill a need today....In my view there are no elite players in their system but there are a few I would be hard pressed to give up.

As far as the Sabres....Their next big trades may come after Ruff and Regier are gone.

I would love to see them deal Ott...i would give up Saad for Ott....

not that Saad will be a superstar, but at this point SB views him as a nice respectful kid who could be a solid player for the hawks for years. if you are gonna part with saad, a kid like zabenijad would have to be coming back this way. we know that isn't happening with either kid. but what I could see is SB interested in both neil & smith & possibly offering pirri, beach & because of his impending RFA status, Stalberg in a multi senario with the Sens.
SB has to make up his mind with 29 & 25 soon. and with the kids coming in the pipeline, 25 can be more easily replaced to obtain immediate help for the hawks.
i may be the only one, but i still think 25 is gonna be the next Peter Marsh, all smoke, no fire. nice skater but can't finish (unless it's the jackets) & for his size, skates around with a dozen eggs in his pocket.

if he keeps playing the way he has & it's not just a flash in the pan & he reverts to his old lazy dogass ways once he got his $$, so do I hope they re up him. SB has to be careful with this 1 though.
sooner or later (next season) we are going to play teams in the east. right now we aren't tough enough to play 3 for of them in a row. but I think SB knows that & he's gonna fix that possibly. we'll see within a couple of weeks how it shakes out.
a good test will be the next 4 games. big physical teams that can skate! ya i know we already beat them this year but now they will come with their game ramped up this time!

My feeling is, if he fills a need, you don't give a lick whether you traded him before or not. But, in truth, some GMs worry about optics more so than they should. The best GMs don't worry that much about being second guessed for their decisions. They deliberate, they act.
- John Jaeckel

Yeah, my feelings too. In my world you don't have to like me but you still have to work for me. If the only reason brouwer is being overlooked is because he and Q don't get along... Well, that sounds like decisions at the UC are being made on emotion, and emotional decisions are rarely rational decisions. Not a good sign from a purely business perspective.

Every body, including you, say he isn't playing well ... imagine those point totals when/if he does!
- paulr

I'd rather see him continue a point a game pace (be damned the lack of goals scored) and improve his defencive game. Just because he isn't slotted as a centre right now doesn't mean he should be forgetting there is ice to cover inside his own blue line.

If the 'Hawks continue to win and Sharp keeps getting the assists, fine by me; someone else is scoring.

I think this was it.

I dunno, I think players say stuff like this ALL the time after they're traded. That is maybe borderline but it doesn't feel like a burned bridge. To me.

Why is the O'Reilly to an Eastern Conference team not resonating with some of you. Just like the Getzlaf talk he isn't coming to the Hawks for obvious reasons. So please when does get traded please refrain from the "Bowman asleep at the wheel comments". The only for sure team in the Western Conference that will make a trade with another western conference team is Columbus...new GM just wants to blow it up and build for the future. Maybe Calgary but that is it. Aside from what most of you think no other team in the conference wants to help the Hawks. They are pretty much the envy of other teams with their talent.....right now. The bottom six of the Eastern conference is where you will find your partners in a trade.

You do realize that it is extremely likely that next year there will be no such thing as the eastern and western conferences, right? And that as of the last proposed realignment, the Avs and Hawks were not in the same division.
