anyone else think gerbe had his best game vs boston playing with 82 &63???
he is simply not a 4th line grinder. his only chance to succeed is to get a legit chance on a scoring line.
i thought he/they had a positive effect on foligno. looked like he felt obligated to be the power forward when playing with 2 smurfs!! - battelmt
I'm sorry, but if Nathan Gerbe is on your 2nd line, you're in deep doo-doo.
Just the same, if Alex Sulzer (as much as I like him) is your most consistent defenseman, again, you're in deep doo-doo.
And if Jochen Hecht is playing 18 minutes a night...well, you get the picture.

he is simply not a 4th line grinder. his only chance to succeed is to grow about 10 inches taller.

They are stockpiling all these players, Flynn, Girgensons, Tropp but where willl there be room for them if they keep bringing back players like Hecht? They should have kept Kostka. He's playing well for the Leafs. |

And even then, he's still not the tallest on the team |

may have been his best game but still wasn't good enough. Same way Matt ellis can have his best game but it doesn't matter, he just isn't tall enough, good enough, consistent enough and he is too short |

the little bit i have seen of Kostka he has looked better than half our dmen.
they need to purge at the deadline. Bye to leo, McMuscle, stafford, gerbe ( ), brennen and bring up some of the young guns to finish the season out and see how they do. |

What I think this team is lacking are a couple cerebral, no-panic type defensemen. A couple leaders. Give me a Mike Ramsey and a Jay McKee, and we're fine right now. Even a Teppo Numminen. |

Before Girgensons got injured he was really coming along nicely. Very good defensively and just started picking up offensively before he was injured. He's going to be a fan favorite for sure.

How can you like Hecht? He is terrible offensively!!! I "liked" him when I thought he was gonna be playing 4th line minutes and playing on the PK and thats it - Smittyx36
That's what I was trying to say. It's not his fault that Lindy puts him in there for 20 minutes. If he was playing 10 minutes a game would he getting this much attention? |

isn't that kind of what Pysyk is? McNabb is supposed to be your clear the net guy.. removing leo and brennan and bringing them in (when they are ready) could really help the d of this team. |

Yes but he could at least make smarter decisions. His shot is awful yet he always shots first before pass first. He had pominville on a 2 on 1 against boston and he took a terrible bad angle shot. He does crap like that every game. |

i think most of us foresaw the hecht promotion.. he has always been a Ruff favorite. Him Kaleta and Ellis are goign to be our #2 line by the end of the season |

he isn't much better of a passer... He used to score those wierd angle shots every now and then so he thinks he can still do it.

He's just all washed up. Girgensons is a perfect replacement for him. A lot like him but gritty with a better shot. |

Very washed up! He was good definsively back in the day but he as always been average or worse offensively. Hecht will be most likely be done after this year and hopefully girgensons will be NHL ready for 13-14 season. Same with Armia and Mcnabb and maybe even Pysyk |

Girgensons - Girgorekno - Armia
