you guys have some good pieces. i think you need to clean house up top (GM and coach) and get some fresh blood in there.

perhaps bring in a new gm, and go into full rebuild. dump your expensive vets for picks and prospects, and rebuild. obviously keep your core guys, but i think it might be time to start over in buffalo, similar to what the sens did 2 seasons ago.

there are still a lot of vets on your team, who despite poor performances this year, would still likely fetch some pretty decent returns at the deadline. finish with a lottery pick, grab a drouin/jones/mackinnon type player..........i think there's potential for a quick turnaround in buffalo, just need the managment to do it, and an owner who allows it to happen.

Isn't it funny how easy it was for Ottawa to become a playoff team again after they accepted the fact that they weren't good enough and needed change. They were a huge surprise last year, a year away from a rebuild. Darcy just doesn't get it, he's stubborn and clueless. We could have been in the process of turning this franchise around instead of setting it back

Crap computer at work, major hotel I work for and can't get a decent keyboard that works. But then again my shop is way below the top of the list.

Not sure keeping Spezza, Alfredson, Gonchar, Phillips & Neil would qualify as a rebuild.

No hatred from me, the Sens are a better team and hope the score is 6-1 or more.

One of these things is not like the other!

But no, you're right, it's less of a proper rebuild than a clever retooling. And, a great coaching hire, it should be added.

But this falls squarely at the feet of Pegula. By keeping moron 1 and moron 2 we've become a laughing stock throughout the league. He should have listened and canned R and R the day he took over. He's gonna learn the hard way, unfortunately.

That's too bad, I am a pretty big fan of the Sabres, truth be told... But hey, I guess if it gets the neccessary changes made, it's for the best.

Avg age of the Sabres is 27.6, the sens avg is 27.4, both teams are in the bottom third of the league. We don't need to throw it in the scrap heap and start over, we have too much talent to do that. We need a front office Rebuild.

I don't think we will be stuck with him. He could be traded but I would be willing to bet he turns it around .

you keep your core, and trade away everything else. but if you would prefer re-tool as opposed to rebuild, then we can go with that.

the fact is that ottawa traded away most of their older depth guys, which allowed them to create roster spots for their younger players, aswell as giving them a bunch of draft picks and prospects.

the players that are currently on ottawa's team, that were not on the nhl roster when the rebuild/re-tool started:

zibanejad, silfverberg, turris, dacosta, greening, o'brien, anderson, cowen, methot, weircioch, benoit, lundin, bishop......and that's not including all the picks and prospects that murray acquired that are playing in the AHL or still in junior.......noessen, prince, puempel, ceci, lehner, hoffman, boroweicki, etc.

that's a pretty MASSIVE roster overhaul. my point was that the sabres have the pieces that they could move to get prospects and picks, and create roster spots for some of their younger players to grow.

I hope them sitting Myers gets him back on his game tonight. If he starts playing well then I can see this team making a 180 and contending for at least 7th-8th place. He is key to are success IMO.

But there is that part of me that wants this team to continue down the train wreck path because I think its the only way ruff gets caned!

We are on the same page. We will never win a cup with R and R. Might as well force them out. I think the players might be on board with that too just by watching them.

Its funny because whenever they interview the players the act as if they like ruff and like playing for him. But there actions speak much louder then there words!

Hey I'm fine with him at 23 for his big contract.. Or we could go sign guys like Wade Redden or Paul Martin to ridiculous contracts and have them suck at 30 instead of 23. There's 5 other defenseman that all have sucked this year, not just him
