Matty Ellis must've handed off the blackmail pictures to Leopold before he left

How bad does this guy have to be to take a seat?

coaches who are feeling the heat often lean on the guys they have trusted in the past (hecht, leo, ellis, etc.)- even if it is plainly obvious to everyone else that said players are no longer reliable.

think gailey and fred jackson...

false. we love hockey so much we'll go even when it's bad, but it does frustrate us quite a bit because we care that much.
- FIREonICE

False, the home opener after the 04' lockout was at 50% capacity. So we're te next 3 home games. I had free tickes to each.

Ridiculous. A city with high taxes and low average income has people lining up to attend sporting events because they are afraid the team might leave.

WNY'ers and Southern Onterrorists are flocking to the arena because if they don't, a guy who has his toilets cleaned with $100 bills is going to pack the team up and leave.

Ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as saying the franchise won't change things as long as fans keep selling out games. Ludicrous.

That's leaves only one other reason. We're idiots. It's not like we're great hockey fans. The USA games for the world junior had maybe 4,500 us fans. For an event that was fairly priced, advertised like (frank) on radio, tv, Internet, billboard and in the newspaper. Where we're the fans?

Do you still have the original list of reasons that you crossed off all of the other possibilities? Maybe one got scratched out by mistake...

100% correct on the were not great hockey fans. Its not like people went to say a college game can definetly say no american has gone 5 mins over the border for a Niagra jr game.

Yep. Rochester played a game here October 28th. Didn't sell a single 300 level seat. The highest priced tickets were $25. And there was no other hockey being played.

Of course they did. Canadians watch that tourney like Americans watch college football bowl games. Canadians have been watching that tournament for a long time. Most of the players play in the CHL... which stands for Canadian Hockey League. It's made up of the Quebec Major Jrs, the Ontario Hockey League and the Western (referring to Western Canada) Hockey League.

Most Americans don't get the tournament on TV. Canadians do. Most American households who do get the games don't watch them. They're watching college football, and NFL, and NBA, and a few are watching the NHL. But they could care less about the world jrs.

I watch them. I love them. I went to 18 games during that tournament. But I wasn't surprised that the building wasn't packed for every game. It is what it is. The IIHF was thrilled with the attendance.

Ryan Whitney is a bum. There's a reason Pitts moved him in the 1st place and Anaheim shortly thereafter.

I see 2 big reasons that contribute to the quiet in our arena.

1. The building itself. It's designed to be a multi-use facility. Like several other buildings, the sound won't echo as much as the older styled barns. The Aud was very loud. You could feel the building shake when things got really crazy. I've only had a few moments like that at Crossroads/HSBC/FNC and that includes the '99 cup run and all of those crazy come back games in the mid-2000's.

2. The team. The team has the fans trained to not expect much. It hasn't always been this way. The Drury and Briere teams won a lot of games late because they never gave up. This current team has also had some comebacks, but they are different. Now they float for 52 minutes and then turn it on in the last 8.

This team hasn't protected leads well over the past few years. They get into that slow it all down mode and everyone keeps backing up. Instead of trying to win, they try not to lose. And that's what losers do.

Miller getting hit by Lucic didn't create an issue, it simply magnified it. The core of this team over the past few seasons is like kleenex; soft and disposable. Guys got wrecked into the boards or took a cheap shot and no one reacted, or the wrong guys react.

This team over the last 4-5 seasons has trained the fans that they can't hold a lead, they won't stick up for each other, they don't play physical, and if they have an extra gear, they won't use it until the dying seconds. We're conditioned to have low expectations.
