does anybody think something like stafford and a 1st or 2nd in this years draft for corey perry would entice anaheim/be a good idea?
i'm thinking that even though this draft is really deep, that perry is already seasoned and if we give up the youth we might be able to have solid lines for attacking and actually be decent (after we sort out the defense, which i would gut and promote mcnabb). it might seem like a lot to give up but perry is a premeire player and is still very young himself. |

do they poll the season ticket holders?
They still have executives who make the big decisions. Trades, drafting, contracts, etc. Their ownership and community situation will never be duplicated in American pro sports again. Damn shame. |

Again, stop taking it personal. Think logically, stop thinking emotionally.
All I am saying is that is the only choice they leave us. Will people choose that route? Probably not. The last 4 years i've wanted to get on the list for seasons. I've gone as far as to put the deposit down on the website, put in the credit card # and then couldnt bring myself to click "proceed". Thank god because i've been spared a lot of money and really bad hockey. - Buffalo--Sabres
I like how I'm the one thinking emotionally but you're the one screaming and crying in here all the time that people need to stop going. That's awesome.
So, are you gonna stop posting on here and watching games? If not, then why should I give up my tickets? |

It's not that logical though, not everyone is that concerned with the details like we are. Do you think that a father is going to not take his kids to a game for their birthday or something because the organization won't change? People like going to the games, it's just how it is. |

Well, that's not entirely true. I live in Rochester and will usually head to Buffalo 6-7 times a regular season for a game. This year, other than my 8 year old daughter, none of the people/groups I usually go with want to go (myself included).
Instead of going to 6-7 games (30 to 40 tickets), I will be doing one family game this year (4 tickets). All because they are so tough and utterly joyless to watch.

Have people start returning their Sabres merchandise they purchased at the Sabres store. If 100 people were to do it . i'm sure it would get someones attention. |

The more casual fans would love for those of us that have seasons to give them up. It drives the price of tickets down because there's a higher availability. It's all just supply and demand.
There were so many people on this very board complaining about how high the ticket prices were and how hard it was to get the amount they needed. Now that we've seen the on ice product, half of the fan base is screaming about how we should all stop going.
It's like trying to have a conversation with a schizophrenic. |

You know people aren't going to do that. Nor should anyone expect them to.
Besides, people returning things doesn't mean anything. When I worked in retail we had certain products that were returned all the time because they were crap. It didn't stop the store from selling it. As a matter of fact, those same products are still on the shelves in that same store. |

I am sure this was discussed at lenght in the last blog, but how is it possible that Hecht played 16:32 last night, while Vanek played 15:23? For me, that alone gets a coach fired.
Other teams/coaches must see that and laugh at the Sabres and Ruff. If I made such poor tactical decisions at my job, I would maybe get one warning, if not fired immediately.
It borders on outlandish and delusional - and I say that without sarcasm. The leading scorer in the league plays less than a guy who shouldn't even be in the league?

Hecht plays the PK, Vanek doesn't. When you have to kill off 3 straight PPs at the beginning of a period, you're automatically taking Vanek off the ice for at least 6 minutes and putting guys like Hecht and Kaleta out there more.

After learning that Leopold does not like Lindy at all, I wouldn't doubt if that wasn't intentional last year. - HonkFortheGoose
Interesting. I would live to I know how many players we have that have gone in record against Ruff.
Pretty sure Vanek doesn't care for him. Maybe you people can chime in and we can make a comprehensive list of players openly or privately hating the coach.
Might be some interesting results. |

figured you can't force people to return their stuff. But that would one of the ways to send a message. Sabres store is run by the organization. Other retailers have already purchased the gear to resell to the public.
Customers can say their jersey is defective and doesn't work like its supposed too. |

I guess for some, but not for me. I don't care what the price of the ticket costs, I want to see a team that plays hard every single shift, every single night. I am not crazy about going to game right now regardless of how cheap the tickets might be.
But I'm also not a casual fan. I still watch every game on TV, and am still reading and posting here every day. |

That IMO is still no excuse, and it's also not the excuse Lindy gave either, he said that the Vanek line "didn't have it" last night. Which is fine but my question is, When has the Hecht line "had it" this year? he has no goals Ott has 2, Stafford has 0. You need a goal. With 5 min left in the game you should have had the Hech line out maybe once and Roll lines 1 and 2. |

If they're going to fire Ruff, which I think they should, it definitely shouldn't be because "the players don't like him". That's a case of inmates running the asylum, especially on this team, where these players, with the exception of Vanek and maybe Miller, if you really want to be nice, have accomplished next to nothing. |

Then you should stop ordering Center Ice. It's no different you realize. You're still putting money in their pockets. - HonkFortheGoose
not as much as you and it hurts more in the pocket book when the arena is empty. |

I get that. But why is Hecht playing PK?! He should be on the 4th line, and that's it.
Ruff always has an excuse, but Vanek is 43rd among forwards in per game TOI. There is no excuse for that. If the coach can't figure out how to get his star player more ice time, that's a huge problem with the coach. |

I agree. But in general with back to back games like that, the ice time is always a bit skewed. Add in the penalty problems, and it makes it even more obvious. I thought the Ennis/Foligno/Gerbe line was the one that generated the most pressure last night.
