Some of the problem is roster make up. All your star players are kids. Nobody to grab them by the ears and slap them around. It has to be somebody high profile that they will respect. - Bieksa#3
I've been preaching for a new Captain for years. Horcoff is a hard worker and nice guy, but the Oilers need a scary, intimidating, hard-working, almost father figure type of captain....not a big brother that's "just such a swell guy". I'm so tired of Horcoff being the face of this team. |

i don`t think they respect Smyth or Horcoff... maybe whitney.
Just saying i would respect Souray - Killbot460
yeah, too bad Shelly didn't sign with EDM THIS year. He came along at such a bad time, when the horrible old school veteran Oilers MacBlender, etc. was in full effect. Souray is a good player that doesn't put up with BS. He voiced his opinion and got blacklisted because of it. Look at him now.
I always thought he could have been the Captain of the Oilers. Too late now. |

Only significant deal they will make is sending their 1st and or two 2nd's for a roster player of value ( JT not included) or sending a player Peckham for a guy like reasoner just a depth move nothing else. - TheDyingOilerFan
I think it would be a mistake for Edmonton to trade their number 1 until at least a little later in the season when they have a better feel for where they'll finish. If the season tanks and that's a top 5 pick, no sense dealing it for a mediocre return now. It's not like they're 1-2 players away from being a Cup contender. I do understand at some point they do need to bring in some solid veterans to compliment the kids and be better mentors than the vets they have now, who are mostly underachievers, but that doesn't mean they need to deal their first round pick to do it. |

I believe as per the rules of the CBA souray was not allowed to sign with edm because they are still paying his buyout |

I`m more fore leaving the top 6 alone and not playing the old vets that just care about there (frank)ing cheque.
PRV-Boyle(orGaustad)-Harti
Jones-Belenger-Eager Extra (Petrell,Ryan Reaves)
We need help on the defence... that will come next season when klefbom comes over.
Also wouldn`t mind getting Patrick Maroon, Mike Brown, or a Brandon Mashinter. we need some functional tough players - Killbot460
i liked ur ideas for help on the third line for a stop gaps for now...and maybe even long term. those guys can both be solid players at the top of their game.
as far the defence, i think u might be putting too much on klefbom.
not only is he no guarantee that he'll ever be as good as we hope (hes shown flashes for sure, but still)
but rookie dmen coming in and making huge impacts immediately are few and far between.
doughtys, myers or schultz type guys are FAR from the norm.
not to mention klefbom has had that bad injury this season. hes losing alot of development time.
i wont be surprised at all if he spends some time in the minors (or should be anyways)
i also think we should be making a move NOW to stay in the hunt. not just wait till next year.
some of these kids (eberle and hall) have been losing alot for 2+ years now and need to start getting a taste of winning on a regular basis |

I think he wanted out because the Oilers didn't send him flowers while he was in the hospital. It's silly, but still a fail on the part of the Oilers. They should have given him a call or sent someone to pay him a visit even. Don't get me wrong though, Souray still has a vagina. |

You're not a homer, JT is money in the bank. Imagine if he had a supporting cast. I'd trade Hall AND Nuge for him I think (plus a tiny bit extra perhaps) - JLO961

I honestly would consider that trade as an EDM fan. Backes and Berglund though. Not Oshie because that would be nearly $9M of salary EDM takes on and STL just takes Yakupov ECL contract, but Oshie is a great player. I think STL has to take Hemsky too for salary concerns. Hemsky will be UFA after next season and EDM will have to resign Berglund RFA. I just would want the bigger size of Berglund vs Oshie too...plus Berglund can also play C or W, giving EDM more depth and options not like being strained at the current moment of injuries to Belanger and Horcoff. I don't think STL would do it though. STL fans prob feel that is not enough to get both players...they probably won't even do Yakupov for Backes and Stewart. Backes means alot to STL. |

I disagree. Ebs is marginally close. Hall and Nuge aren't close to JT. Could you imagine ebs and Tavaras together hell deal Yaks for Landeskog(if he's healthy) and you have a unstoppable beast of a line |

How so? Hall's stats are pretty much identical to JT's after both players played 2 season... RNH's stats after year 1, rapes JT's... I agree right now, JT is the better player, but to say "aren't close" is silly. |

Wow, decimating our young top 6 for the sake of one line? It might be the best line in hockey, but it's absolutely not worth that by a wide margin.
As a sidebar, I'd doubt the Avs would be interested in dealing Landeskog for Yakupov. |

i dont JT is far ahead of either. better for sure, but i think nuges stock might be a little stunted in your eyes, cause hes not puttin up the points. he will though. theyll come... he'll be just fine. hes gonna be a great player.
his defensive work is stellar right now too.
i dont know that there's anyone in the game id deal both for.
maybe crosby i guess |

Look who Tavaras plays with. Moe and curly. He is also far better defensively then both |
