I know they have some pieces within the system, like the ones you mentioned. I was talking about the pieces right now in Washington. Is Holtby a core player, or a one-hit wonder? I can't answer that.
You ain't fetching too much in return for those spare pieces, which is what I said earlier. I agree, the best way is to use the money in free agency and hope you can attract the ones that make sense. - Oneonta Penguin
As far as Holtby and Johansson go, I wouldn't call them core players, but I could see a true rebuilding team offering up a current solid NHLer that is on the declline with either one as a center piece. Like, i could see the Flames sending back some package containing Callamari, Glencross, and/or Kiprusoff w/ Holtby and Johansson going the other way along w/ picks and prospects.
I really do think they have value to a team re-building form the ground up as they have some skill as they are young enough to be around & in their primes 3 or 4 yrs down the road. |

Remember. He gets final say on where he goes. He is not going to go to a team at the bottom of the standings. I have a feeling he is not getting traded and gets bought out in the offseason. - cap1681
It's not like Wash is a bottom feeder every year. If he thinks he could be "a piece" that put them above, he'll consider it. We are talking about a playoff team not Columbus, Calgary or Toronto (should I have said that? ) |

Cammalaria is a bad investment. Six million price tag and he doesn't produce. |

If his salary was $3million I'd want him on the Pens. |

He isn't perfect & I certainly wouldn't want him on the Pens, but he's been able to average a little under 0.6pts/gm. The real problem with him is that he's basically made of glass and can't stay healthy.
In any case, it was just one example of how I think the some team out there would be interested in Holtby and Johnannson as pieces for the future that don't really improve your team now. Clagary isn't looking for players that will help them now; they need players that can help them 3-4yrs down the road, when Holtby and Johnannson will still be in their mid-20's. |

Very true. Talk about one hell of a mismanaged franchise...but you could substitute any number of teams in there instead of Calgary; they are just the one i'm the most familar with. Ottawa, Columbus, Phoenix, etc... |

Just looked at Iginla's age and was kind of surprised he's only 35. People talk about him being almost 40 all the time. He would be really nice on this team. Champion written all over it |

I don't think anyone seriously believe Ottawa is a threat to win the Cup this year, but they are certainly closer than the other teams i mentioned.
And they certainly have some grey-beards on their roster w/ Alfredsson, Philips, and Gonchar that could theoretically improve mosts teams right away.

The team chef. Serves some delicious squid in the locker room between periods. |

I don't see why not. Anderson standing on his head like he has been can steal playoff series' no problem. |

Isn't Spezza out for like 2 months? I just see them slowly working their way back in the standings. |

I just don't see Ottawa being able to outlast the Pens, Rangers, Bruins, or Lightning in a 7 game series the East. Could they win 1 playoff series? Certainly. But 3 or 4 series to get the Cup? I just don't see it. They are a solid team, but overall incomplete. Great at home; bad on the road. |

They are doing well in the standings, but it just seems as if they are in the 2nd-tier of the East team with the Penguins, Rangers, Bruins, & Lightning above them. Maybe add the Devils as well. Not sure about them yet. |

Your doctor can prescribe an ointment that treats Cammalaria quite nicely. It will clear it right up in a week or so, but make sure you use protection in the future so you don't get it again. |

Haha I made a snow man a few weeks back. In a few days all that was left was a camo boonie hat and a carrot laying on the grass. That made me laugh. |
