I wouldn't give more than Tangradi for Bobby Brown. Maybe add a late round draft pick, but definitely not a first. But that's just my prerogative... - rival22
Two can play at that game. I been around the world and I don't think you're getting that much for Tangradi. He falls every little step and other teams notice that. Don't be cruel, he just isn't good enough. |

I was in the building last night...a few observations:
-security line to get in from 5th Ave was REALLY long/slow, much moreso than usual.
-Caps played a great road period in the first and did a good job keeping the crowd silent.
-OV8 was much more passive than usual and really didn't impact the game or show any physicality until the game was out of reach.
-Pens did a much better job of staying disciplined and didn't get frustrated. Confident team now, opposite of the Caps, who folded after the Dupuis goal.
-Backstrom and Green were invisible. If those guys don't get going, the Caps are toast.
-Caps really need to trade for an experienced veteran goaltender...like Vokoun..they should never have let him walk.
-Kunitz had a bad first period but played much better as the game went along.
-Dylan Reese looked shaky his first 2 shifts but pretty good after the butterflies wore off.
-Robert Bortuzzo is earning the right to stay in the lineup. He's big, solid, and makes the nice simple plays to get the puck out of danger. He's a huge upgrade on the bottom pairing and I loved they way he shoved OV down, even if he got a penalty late in the game..
-Despres is really coming into his own...if he and Bortuzzo can continue their strong play, the Pens will have a much better D going into the playoffs than last year.
-Malkin is Malkin. Invisible for the first half of the game and then BOOM. Perfect shot.
-The 4th Line had a good shift a couple minutes before the powerplay that seemed to generate some momentum in the building, and things built from there.
-The Pens took longer than I would have liked to go to the 1-4 trap with a 4 goal lead in the 3rd, but I think the message finally got through after the OV breakaway.
-Note to Dan Bylsma: I like to see Sid killing penalties, but not with a minute left in a game where you have a 3 goal lead.
Thanks all.

Depres has really played well of late, I think he is blossoming before our eyes, had a really strong game last night and that was with Resse as his partner, not Letang, and I think that speaks volumes to the strides he has made of late |

The fact you went through the trouble to find that is whats scaring me. Either you are latently homosexual or you have a fair amount of free time. And if you don't like that, too bad. It's my perogative. |

I know it's early, but these things always make me laugh. Everyone is always clamoring for the Pens to get a winger for Sid.
But right now, among players listed as RW's, Dupuis has the same amount of points as Jagr, and more points than:
Hemsky
Eberle
Bobby Ryan
Kessel
Iginla
Kovalchuk
Giroux

Another strange stat I saw two nights ago and this was before Detroit's game last night.
The Wings had a combined 48 points from first and second line players
Third and fourth line players combined for 1 point.

The kid still takes some stupid penalties, but nothing different than some of his teammates. He has a good handle of the puck; skates very well; plays sound defense and his ability to join the play in the offensive zone is really giving him some quality chances.

Yes. Lots of snow on the ground from when I went to sleep last night, still coming down. I guess the wife will have to get the shovel out as I had minor knee surgery yesterday haha. |

Really his only weakness so far IMO has been the number of penalties he has taken. He will need to cut down on that as the year goes on. All part of the learning process. |

The one thing that he has a problem with at times, is getting the puck out of his zone. He gets too cute with little soft bank passes. Either he's hoping a teammate is there and they aren't, or they are supposed to be and aren't, but there are times that I would rather see him just go high glass and get it out of the zone instead of trying to start a nice looking breakout.
But all in all, he' playing well. His mistakes haven't been horrible, and his highs out number his lows. |
