A chance Darcy brings him back? Absolutely. If Hecht can come back... if Grier can come back... if Bob freakin' Corkum can come back, why not Fragile Tim? A chance he helps our faceoff problems, more like 1 in a million. - keptupl8
I figured he would have grabbed him already. |

Here's my opinion on the whole thing.
They need a new coach. That much is obvious.
With a few tweaks, they make the playoffs.
However, is that really good enough? Isn't the real goal to be a Stanley Cup contender? If that's the case, then I think they should basically just blow it up and start over. The new owner was supposed to bring a change to the culture surrounding this team, and all it's done so far is to cement the culture that's been here for years. Time for Pegula to really make his mark on this team. Again, it's just my opinion. - HonkFortheGoose
I'm begging for a rebuild. I think it's the perfect time to trade Vanek and Miller and absolutely look towards the future. Could you imagine the youth if we were to somehow land Mackinnon. We could be looking forward to the future like the Oilers have been, or we could keep hoping we end up in 7th instead of 10th |

I think the best option is to blow it up and do the rebuild. I've been saying that for at least a week now.
The only one of the "vets" I would probably keep around is Pommer, because I just don't think he gets what he really is worth in a trade. He's underrated horribly in this league. He'd also be a good fit to help lead the young kids. |

Serious question. If you were to draft one of these former Sabres and you had nothing to base you're choice on besides talent, which would you draft
Tim Connolly
Max Afinogenov

as much as i think they should move Miller at some point i don't think now is a great time for that....tell me who is playing goal?......
but i guess if we are aiming for the 1st pick maybe it is a good idea......id like to keep Vanek though |

I dont think his job is all that safe - Homer
Nor should it be, we are one of the worst coached team in the league.

Depends. Assuming they are rookies, with our prospects, I take Connolly. |

What is Tyler Myers' plus minus this year? The guy seems to be slow, slow, slow on the ice. He's not moving his legs enough, and he's not playing the body of the attacker at all. He flails his stick out, and does that too slowly.
If the Sabres can fix Myers immediately, they will win some games immediately. |

i kind of worry that we're another Capitals team, where the coach will be changed but the collection of crappy players just perpetuates awfulness.
in some cases it's the coach, some it's just the players playing style, and some it's their psyche. my hope is that they would get all micromanagement on this team at some point and everyone gets a psychologist they can go to. if the teams mental makeup is awful then it doesn't matter the types of players assembled.
that being said, i think if we had a stronger second line and retool our defense (which is a collection is misfit toys led by a confused Myers ((who hopefully is turning things arround lately)) then i think we might actually get out of this alive.

All being equal, I take the playmaking center prospect with good hands from Syracuse. |

Regardless IMO you change the coaching before you give up on players that you have invested money and draft picks into. Sure a trade would stir things up but you can find a good coach, it's tougher to find a star player that just didn't mesh well with the current coach |

That's just it. I don't want to "make it out alive." I want this team to be a contender, and they're not even close. Coaching change or not. |

Campbell was a project and exceeded expectations. Max was a 3rd or 4th rounder, I think. He just about lived up to expectations. Timmy was a top 10 pick and had tons of potential. Maybe did the least with his abilities of the 3, but based on the talent at the time they were drafted, I put him head and shoulders above the other 2. |

Actually, after the lockout, I won't be going to nhl.com for a few decades, or at least until Bettman privatizes himself.
Anyway, that -7 makes my point. In a short season, Myers has to be +7 in 10 games.

Agreed. They all were great skaters and had talent, but Connolly had the most skill by far |
