That's why I am giving up my 8 tickets in the 100 level and I gave up my 6 van miller tickets. The coaching ranks and general manager ranks are littered with uneducated and lifers who are not qualified. The ones that are, dominate there sports

41.3%

next closest is Edmonton at 45.3%. We suck.
Tim Connolly was almost 49% last year, if that helps.

I'm kind of with you. I say get the best guy available. Young, old, whatever. Then take his input for player moves. If he can win with the present group, have at it. If he wants to get faster, tougher, more offense, more defense... then trade, draft, waive, sign accordingly.
- keptupl8

Right. Sutter was working with crap in Calgary, some of his own choosing, and was the right fit in LA. If Lindy goes, he may be that kind of guy elsewhere too.

If someone can come in here and get guys like Stafford to play like he's paid, great. That may be a reach though.

well that would also depend how much power the owner + gm give him, and then if they could make the trades/moves

i think the devils have found the right coach for them, he is young but demands that the team plays well and is accountable.........well if you dont then your fired, even if you got team to the playoffs and are a few days from round 1.......he seems to have the good mix

with vets i feel you know what they want and will try to do and all, but you also need to make sure you have the personnel in place already to play his system or it wont work, whereas with a young coach he can start fresh with either new ideas or build the team and figure out the needs, where it may take a little longer but the rewards could be better, with vets depending on age and other factors they may be around 2-3 seasons before they retire so its more of a win now thing

I looked at it at one point this afternoon. Didn't take long for me to decide it was best to just pretend it didn't exist.

Your goose is cooked. You sit here and are all glassy eyed over the sabres. You are a fan who isn't capable of talking intelligent about the sabres. I like to come on here and laugh at all of you,who talk about that lindy and Darcy should see this out. You are the same fans who have never played a game in your life, but pretend to be knowledgeable

Just checked. Connolly's last season above 50% was 06-07, at 54%. He was 7 for 13 that year... That was the only year in his NHL career that he was over 50%.

I don't know who's posts you're reading, but they sure as hell aren't mine. I want Lindy gone. He's worn out his welcome.

As a matter of fact, I hope the door hits him on his way out.

Now, move along, you obviously are the one who has no clue what's going on.

serious question (probably been asked before) how many gm's and/or owners would stand behind their coach who quite honestly hasnt done much at least not recently when the roster (should be) good enough to make the playoffs? and go through periods of the schedule where they just look disinterested and like poop?

look at recent teams with success, and when they werent doing so well, they have all pretty much changed their coach when things werent going well, hell the devils have had 8349274932 coaching changes (see last post we even fired our coach a few days prior to the playoffs because they didnt feel he could get the job done)

i would probably guess not too many teams would

A chance Darcy brings him back? Absolutely. If Hecht can come back... if Grier can come back... if Bob freakin' Corkum can come back, why not Fragile Tim? A chance he helps our faceoff problems, more like 1 in a million.

Lindy ruff is garbage and has not made it past the 1st round of the playoffs in 6 years. He has never won the big game no matter how much talent he has or how good his goal tending is. He misses the playoffs in a league where it is easier to make the playoffs in then any other sport more then he makes it. Simply put his coaching style is dated and he needs to go and has needed to go for several years now period. Pegula is acting more like a fan then he is a boss and needs to can his ass period end of story. Garth you drink way to much kool-aid and act more like a homer then anyone i have ever read blogs of true story.

but it worked . Changes of culture and life of the team. Not sure the first one we get will do it . but its a change from the norm . if it takes a year or 2 . what do we have to lose . we know what to expect withthe current one . Time to step up and he can't do it .

Here's my opinion on the whole thing.

They need a new coach. That much is obvious.

With a few tweaks, they make the playoffs.

However, is that really good enough? Isn't the real goal to be a Stanley Cup contender? If that's the case, then I think they should basically just blow it up and start over. The new owner was supposed to bring a change to the culture surrounding this team, and all it's done so far is to cement the culture that's been here for years. Time for Pegula to really make his mark on this team. Again, it's just my opinion.
