Peca, Briere and Vanek were/are not terrible.. peca would have been a 2nd line center in detriot, briere would have been a compliment and Vanek is not a leader like all the ones you mentioned..

You're right. Buffalo has not had quite the talent the Wings have had over the years. Few to no teams have. But the Sabres have had some fairly talented teams over the years that should have performed far better in the playoffs than they did, and I hold Ruff fully responsible for that. As far as Lidstrom, Datsyuk and Zetterberg go, not one of them were a 1st round draft pick. Lidstrom was late 2nd round, Zetterberg the 7th round, and Datsyuk in the late 6th round. So yeah, maybe Darcy and other members of the organization also need to be fired for their inability to scout, draft, and develop quality talent.
