I posted this in TP's ridiculous blog but I think it works in this climate, too.
"This article is condescending for a lot of reasons.
The deal is as easy as it occurring to Paul Holmgren to make the call to Alberta. What prestige to even have the chance to obtain some Flyers. It worked out well for LA, after all.
There seems to be the notion that when Paul Holmgren appears on Jay Feaster's caller ID, Jay tells the room to be on their best behavior. Congratulating Paul on all his success, Jay extends every courtesy in hopes that Paul would offer a large salary dump and B prospect for his captain. In fact, if I remember correctly what has happened on this site, the only reason Calgary acquired JayBo is so that they could offer Iginla and he to the Flyers together.
Bobby Ryan, hey, any old time Paul wanted he could have traded for him. Several other deals were in fact cancelled because Paul wasn't sure or not if he still wanted Bobby. The Ducks are still on standby as we speak. The Ducks have 6 wins and Philly has 6 points. If only Bob Murray had doused Paul Holmgren in flattery when he had apparently so many chances...
In no way is it impossible to exaggerate what Calgary fans expect in return for their Captain. It's only Jerome Iginla. He can be classified only as "a nice addition", and probably is still pretty good.
As far as Iggy himself, well, to become a Flyer cements a legacy of excellence and integrity. What no trade clause? Get the number to the premium car service provider and book a trip to the airport on the ASAP. " |

We dont need kipper we have a goalie. I believe in Bryz.. Iginla to philly for Cousins, and two high picks.... I dont think they would give up anything currently on roster unless it gets really really bad.. This is assuming Cousins doesnt go to prison - nonpoint22
high picks for philly are still typically late first round picks. and i dont think calgary would want someone with cousins off ice problems it would just bring distractions to the club. a deal of laughton + a condition first (make playoffs becomes second if they miss) + conditional third if he resigns or rinaldo + same conditions but second instead of third |

Question is would he waive it for anybody? - nonpoint22
I dont think he would say no to Pitt or Boston. |

I could see him waiving to go to a contender. Philly. Pitts, NYR ect.
Calgary looks awful so far this year. They really need to blow it up and rebuild. - fiveandagame
Have you watched any of the Flames games? They have been looking better and better with each game. They pushed the almighty 'Nucks to OT and just out shot CHI 47-19 and scoring chances were something like 20-6
We don't need to blow it up but we could stand to make a few trades to aquire picks and prospects. Stop following the crowd by saying "they need to blow it up!" That is getting soooooooooooooooooooo old!!!! Watch the damn games. |

You guys are both right
Also, for those of you who say the Flames have looked terrible you are very wrong. I know their record is poop, but the wins are going to come. |

Doan is a beauty. He's put that whole PHX organization on his back. Give me a team of 20 Doan's and we would win the cup. |

Ya he would be awesome there. Same as Pitt. If he does get traded, I hope it's to either of those teams. |

Please do but at least make educated comments. Not ignorant, conformist and just plain dumb comments. You want to trash the Flames then, that's fine, we can take it, just don't be stupid; show an ounce of intelligence.

Maybe blow it up is the wrong term. I just think the Flames are going to be in tough the next couple of years with out a couple of big moves. This year they will be fighting Colorado for last in NW. And then they have to compete with the rest of the Western Confernece for a playoff spot. If Feaster just sits back and does nothing its going to be a long painful rebuild. |

I dont see them trading Laughton for a rental...Thats the thing people have to remember about iggy...He is a short term fix...Maybe I am naive, but I really think Homer is going to grow this team with the young players. Not the trade every piece we have for veterans passed there prime like the old days. I personally wouldnt trade Laughton for Iggy. Eventhough I am a huge iggy fan and would love to see him here |
