When did Kessel turn into a fat guy? I got winded just watching him.
- the_cause2000

He was delirious with exhaustion some shifts. Probably explains his shot selection.

If by Siberia, you mean the 3rd line, sure.

another thing to consider here is the line matching carlyle does.

he uses the grabo line against opposition top lines.. focused on shutting guys down while providing some offense.

mcclement made more sense in that role. especially with a hot line playing.

they arent trying to tank TFT, no matter how hard you wish for it.

If this is about line matching, explain how Kessel gets 26 minutes on the road.

It wasn't about line matching.

he uses the grabo line against opposition top lines.. focused on shutting guys down while providing some offense.

Put van Riemsdyk with them and stop trying to use them as shut down players. Put McClement with Bozak and Komarov and use them for that instead if need be.

mcclement made more sense in that role. especially with a hot line playing in kadri frattin and komarov.

Put Frattin and Kadri with Kessel and see how fast the two hot youngsters get Kessel going.

they arent trying to tank TFT, no matter how hard you wish for it.

This isn't about tanking. If it was about tanking, trade Kessel, play McClement 25 minutes a night and you'll tank plenty hard. This is about giving the young guys more ice time and more opportunity when they have clearly earned it.

Veterans, back seat. Young guys, front seat.

How did bozak get brought up tonight? He was invisible, just like 1/2 of the other leafs. Can there be a bigger whipping boy

well I don't know which shift in particular you are referring too but the couple I seen where he was winded. He was battling for pucks along the boards in the offensive zone and after his centerman coughed the puck up after all his hard work, he had to come back and do the same to get possession back again.

Although it is easier not to go winded when you don't battle at all I guess........ not referring to anyone on the leafs in particular

I think Bozak is invisible for lack of talent, not for a lack of trying. Most of the time he just doesn't have the skills to react fast enough to play on the 1st line.

Prob was the shift at the end of the game where I seen JVR and Kessel hobbled over in exhaustion from puck battling in the offensive end and later on the defensive end after Bozak coughed the puck up easily.

And after Bozak coughed the puck up....... he was floating around center ice looking for the breakaway pass and........ not winded at all at the end of the shift. Meanwhile Kessel could barely make it to the bench.

Not saying Kessel is who you get your kids to aspire to be as a hard working NHL'r but by comparison to his centerman counterpart............ he's a regular workhorse

Kadri's been the best centerman on this team this year........ by far.

Bozak is pretty special in the fact he is as talentless as most the guys on this team yet still feel like he deserves to be there more than most.

Just finished watching the game! We won, barely... We were on our heels most of the 3rd I thought.

Also I think we need to get kessel with kadri for a few shifts. Bozak and kessel aren't clicking to much, and is it just me or does anyone else know that when there in the offensive zone you just know there trying to give the puck to kessel!

His goals will come but for the love of god stop trying to give him the puck when he is clearly tied up.

If we throw kadri with kessel for a few shifts here an there at least kadri has to many different moves and is far less predictable.

John Paddock, now an assistant GM with the Flyers, coached Carlyle at the end of his playing days in Winnipeg and got him started as an assistant coach. Paddock says Carlyle’s strength is in his understanding of the team nature of the game.

“He knew the inner workings, defined roles, he knows how a team works, putting players in situations where they could be successful,” says Paddock.”

I think maybe Carlyle has been doing this with Kadri and Frattin

That's pretty much summed up our first line center position since Sundin left

ISn't it funny that when Sundin was here, he rarely had adequate wingers to help him? Now it's the reversal

That's so easy to pick out? It's like picking on Komisarsk everygame. I could pick out a million plays where bozak shows more effort than Kessel.

If he really wants to do that with Kadri and Frattin, he'll kill two birds with one stone and put them both with Kessel.

sure it was, the kessel line (which i already said i felt got too many minutes) was matched up against one of the scoring lines.. buffalo was pushing at the end so hence, lots of ice time for the kessel line.

line matching.

not how carlyle works. and he's in charge. so until that changes, get used to it.

Put Frattin and Kadri with Kessel and see how fast the two hot youngsters get Kessel going.

and once again, you dont break up a line that is working. thats poor coaching. ever think that komarov taking the body every chance he gets might have something to do with the space kadri and frattin are getting?

tonights win was all about the kids. they were given the appropriate ice time and they made it work. you are arguing FOR what happened.

then frattin's production slows down because he would have to be the physical presence on that line.

right now kadri and frattin have komarov doing that for them, allowing them to play their offensive games.

GIVE KADRI MORE ICE-TIME SHEESH. Was a beast today in only 17 minutes of ice-time. HAHAHA KALETA. That rat got what he deserved, it was a clean hit. Brown beat up the taller Weber, adding insult to injury. GOLEAFSGO.
