The rule should be only in affect within the circle where the face-off is being taken, not the big circle. I can see why they don't want players being able to put their glove down right on the dot and pull it back to a player, to me it's the same as a glove pass. Not sure it's worth a penalty, but players shouldn't be allowed to do it.

You're not going to find many 30+ goal scorers with point a game potential who have any of those things you ask for.

Let's compare Kessel, and oh, say someone like Zach Parise. Or, how about Henrik Zetterburg. Hell, I'd even go so far as someone like Daniel Alfredsson in his prime. Point is, lots of players with Kessel type stats bring WAY more to the table than our Phil. For that matter, I would include Joffrey Lupul. |
