Semin is a team killer. Muller will not want him on that roster. It will not surprise me is he is scratched throughout the year.

I dont think we are in a hurry to give him up.. just like to talk about what we could get for him.. i personally want him on the team and would rather have a different prospect other than despres and morrow be sent out if they are trying to find a winger....
- nh4442

We would only be able to get a prospect back. If we are going to get something substantial this year, we are going to have to give up a roster player + and our roster players who are 'available' are not what I would call enticing to give up a scoring winger for Sid.

That is the only trade we should be looking at, a scoring option for Sid, I am now officially on the 'get Sid a winger' bandwagon. He would have so many more points if he had someone on his line with hands. Our 3rd line would look great with 'Super Duper' on it.

I just dont know how we can get a scoring option for Sid, we have nothing to give.

Lazy play at the blue line with net empty, didn't even chase the guy down, so he just walked the puck into the net. Unforgivable effort.

I have no interest in Setoguchi. I'm not sure why people are in a hurry to give on Despres...Go back and look how inconsistent Letang was his first couple years...hard position to learn. Always has been. I'm not completely opposed to trading him, but they need more in return than Setoguchi.

I think most of us are against moving Despres. The conversation started by some "rumors" that he might be available for the "right" deal. I personally don't think Despres has been that bad.....for a young kid paired with a very average player in Eng.

The most confusing thing I've seen is Despres getting scratched after Bylsma wanted him on the roster. It was reported that Shero wanted to send Despres down, but Bylsma wanted him here. Now he's scratched and we had to lose Strait for nothing. Seems like something the Pirates would do....

By the way the report on TIOPS says the Pens "like" seto, but don't "love" him.

Nice to see Bergevin stick to his guns and not caving. He's made some nice moves as a GM so far, that club is in the best hands that they have been in a while.

walshy you are now my best friend on the board lol... unless your kidding, then you just became my enemy

I think depres + 1st or 2nd could pick up a decent top 6 winger.. yes someone like perry or ryan might have to throw in another piece.. but i honestly think iggy will go for cheaper than what we think.. he is a ufa and might walk to a cup contender for one last shot...

i like seto but would rather have oshie or stewert but neither for despres... if despres is gone it needs to be for an awesome deal... like everyone said

No I was serious. With Iggy we may have a chance of getting him 'cheap' due to his NTC so he has to agree to move.

But getting Perry or Ryan will depend on what happens with contract negs with Perry and Getzlaf, and if the Ducks tank out early this year and they decide to go into a rebuild.

They are a strange combo of players, at their top they could win the cup, but if only a couple of players are off their game, they look terrible. So will be interesting to see what happens out there.

And Despre +++ wont get a deal done for either of those 3, Calgary seem unwilling to load up on picks and use them properly and that is not enough for either of the Ducks we want.

It sucks but it is a reality of how hard they are to acquire and why one of Shero's picks needs to pan out in the next 2 years as a top 6 winger.

Stewart 2013 is great, but he is going nowhere and St Louis dont need defensive prospects. Oshie would be awesome too, so Despres for either would be awesome but impossible.

see thats the thing the teamsn that need D or D prospects are team who have nothing for us or are our rivals lol

the article I posted says RS wont trade despres for a rental, he wants someone like neal, young good cap hit and will sign for years... which is fine bc we have no wingers in the system other than bennett. like someone said kunknackl (sp) and megna might not pan out, might be another jeffrey/tangradi...

i know pouliot is a beast in the ohl but i truely wanted a winger at that 8th pick...are there any top prospects in 2013 draft that are nhl ready? would a despres for a top 10 draft pick be an option people would like??

Well that is the $1M questions isnt it, if he can pull a rabbit out of the hat with a 10 ten forward NHL ready I will forgive him for having nothing for this season. This season is such a mess for so many teams.

Let's dial it back a bit Walshy. I agree STL doesn't need D prospects. Hell, they don't need anything as far as I'm concerned. But, Chris Stewart has been non existent for two years. I think a sample size of five games isn't enough for me to determine if this kid is starting to finally reach where he was supposed to reach when he was drafted by Colorado. It's just like the goofballs from Edmonton that say Ales Hemsky has played great in five games and his injuries are all behind him.

So far it's been nothing but positives regarding him. It's early though, but he has been one of their better players. Has the pal he supposedly cast over Washington disappeared with is departure to Raleigh? Still to early to tell, but I doubt it has.

I know we all love Despres, but he is pretty much an unproven asset. We aren't getting an 'awesome' winger for Despres.

I don't understand why Carolina gave him seven million for one year. While he possesses ridiculous skill, the guy is a worthless lazy bum. He is frustrating to watch because you expect so much more. He did make a very nice play tonight that led to a Carolina goal on the forecheck, but ... there was a reason why Washington passed on signing him and the other teams in the NHL passed on his file.

I wouldn't have minded taking a 1-year flier on Semin. We had the cap space.

He isn't as defensively-deficient as his rep seems to be.

like gunner said, in the digital age now other GM's have video on him in ahl and nhl and can tell if he is or isnt going to be a top 4 D.. i think if he gets top 4 mins paired with letang, he will show what he can do...

IMO he was one of their better players in last years playoffs. I still think the canes over-paid for him.....I wouldn't want him for 7mil period. He's the kind of player that only deserves one year deals.

I understand that folks want a premium winger for Sid, but the only way it could happen is a premium winger wanted to come here AND the circumstances were perfect for both sides. That is a slim chance, even at the trade deadline. Guess I still have a bad taste after the Hossa disaster. I am sure Ray does too.
