Sometimes a lack of hustle is just a lack of hustle. And sometimes struggling, is just struggling. I don't beleive there is an injury issue with Giroux. He's just not playing that well. Along with a lot of other players.

I love the Philadelphia Flyers but there is very little about this roster that excited me right now. I feelfeel we had a horrible off season and now we're in the middle of the pack. A seventh or eighth seed at best. I have never been to the Wells Fargo Center before and I was gonna go this season if not for the lockout. Thanks to the lockout, I am gonna wait until the excitement comes back and I promise that it will. I know the season has only just begin but this team has holes.

I'm excited by the young talent on this roster. Couturier is two months into his twenties. Brayden Schenn is 21. Voracek is 23. Simmonds is 24. Giroux's been 25 for about 2 weeks. Laughton's 18. Even the bottom six has a lot of youth Wellwood, Rinaldo & Sestito are all 25 or younger.

We knew they had holes before the Season started. There is no doubt in my mind that this team is better then what is showed so far this Season. And LA was an 8th seed last year. So make the playoffs, and see what happens.

I respectfully agree on all points. However I felt the LA Kings we're a good team on paper to start last season. They just got hurt in the middle, made the right deal (Jeff Carter) and got healthy. It didn't shock me at all that they won't the cup.

Leighton didnt skip the backup job.. he got rushed up do to injuries to both of our goalies.

That year he played very well.. so did Boosh, and so did Emery. They were all helped out by a significantly deep 2 way offense, and a top end defense. Look at Leightons stats since the cup final.

4 NHL games. Actually 3 and one period. In two seasons. And in those 10 periods, he has allowed 13 goals. 13.

Luke Schenn should be included on the list but that is a concern.

My point is.. Homer took a gamble this offseason, and went with Leights as backup. I was skeptical then, Im still skeptical now, but I will let time decide. I think giving a guy who hasnt seen just about any action in NHL hockey since June of 2010 the backup role is risky.

Luke Schenn is 23. Coburn isn't exactly ancient at 27.

Erik Gustafsson has finally returned from his injury in the AHL and could be an option before long, and Brandon Manning's play has improved over the last few months. Also, they have three guys in NCAA ranks that are decent to good prospects in Reece Wilcox, Shayne Gostisbehere and Mark Alt(acquired in the Boucher trade from Carolina)

There's definitely not as many good young defensemen as forwards, but Holmgren's always been able to add solid veteran defensemen.

I was suprised Wellwood was sent down. IMO he's been one of their best players since the season opener. Would like to see him on the PK instead of Fedotenko.
