They've been playing similar systems for 2 seasons now. That's part of the whole "Sabres University" concept.

There was an interview with Ruff where he claimed to have shifted Rochesters "gameplans" to simulate their NHL style or something while he was down there. I'm trying to find the interview it was on WGR I think

Obviously I dont watch Juniors on TV or online, but I watched all the WJC games that were televised, and the kid went from starting the tournament on the 4th line, to impressing the Canadian coach and getting moved up with Nugent-Hopkins and Scheifele.

He was extremely impressive. MacKinnon was a no-show. Jones had a bad start and a strong finish.

It was on at odd hours so I didnt watch a ton Ill admit.

I believe you, but thats nothing new. They play the same system, or at least have the same concepts.

Any Idea on who the first forward call-up would be from Rochester?

MacKinnon wasn't being used properly. They had him in a 3rd line checking role. That's not his style game, so obviously he was going to disappear. I feel bad for the kid. Canada's coach was awful.
- HonkFortheGoose

They both were utilized the same to start the tournament. How else did Drouin start out on the 4th line and impress so much to get moved up? 4th line gets minimal minutes and doesnt get asked to contribute much offense. Every time he touched the puck, it was exciting to watch him. I cant say the same for MacKinnon.

I don't know a whole lot about them to be honest, but I believe that Drouin plays a more physical game than MacKinnon does. That would make him being on the 4th line and making the jump up a bit easier. Now, I could be completely wrong, that's just the impression I got.

This team is very average at best and its time for a shake up. (Has been for 5 years).

ZERO offensive creativity under Lindy.

Boring,plodding. INEFFECTIVE.

Id like to say stuff...positive stuff about Ruff's system, but nobody would believe me and it would give away my source

They are about the same height and weight. He may initiate contact more than MacKinnon, but hes definitely a skill player. Very good hands. Deceiving speed. They moved him up with Nuge and Schefiele because of his playmaking and skill. Same talent MacKinnon has, but Drouin was just more dominant, and he was younger.

The only positive thing about Ruff that I would like to hear is when he gets released from his head coaching duties!

I'd believe in the system more if the skill level on this team was better. This team has talent but its missing THE guy. It's missing someone with talent, experience and LEADERSHIP that can infuse confidence to the entire team.

Unfortunately these guys don't grow on trees.

Look, I have seen this so called system for 14 - 15 freaking years already!
It has not worked before, and sure as hell, it will never work!
I don't care who you bring here, or who you trade for!
System is broken, Ruff's system is OUTDATED!!
Time to move on!
Time for a new, younger coach to go with our younger talent.

We are happy with the past, PAST!!
If you are happy with the 06-07 memories, God bless you, live that way!

Last year you were all but calling Kassian a bust, but now that hes playing alongside the Sedins and became noticeable, hes a rare player?

Anyone Vancouver puts with the Sedin's puts up inflated numbers. I dont buy it.

Zack has tons of skill, I think 2 things held him back in buffalo lack off ice time and ruffs coaching , he looked scared every shift of doing anything wrong

All I'll say about Vancouver is this...

How do you fail with the Light Bulb twins, Burrows, Kesler, etc. ??? Any time they dont play in the Finals at the LEAST is an embarrassment.

Everytime I go to Prudential center to catch a Sabres game VS the freaking Devils, I look at those 3 Stanley Cup banners hanging from that roof, it almost makes me wanna cry.
I go to Nassau to see the Sabres-Isles, they have 4!
Sabres fans are the most deserving, long suffering fans in the NHL.
If Mr. Pegula really cares about winning a championship for Buffalo, he needs to take his head off his behind, and realize this coach is going nowhere!
How many more years do we have to go through this BS???

I personally think that Ruff's era is winding down pretty fast.
