I don't think Shelley is an everyday player. But I have no problems when he plays. More times then not, he does his job. Plays well positionally, throws some hits, and plays his position and makes the right plays.

he takes more grief than he deserves, for sure.

Only 2 games, but I wasn't impressed. I like Gervais better based on his two games.
- MJL

I agree. gervais actually looked good the last 2 games. Amazing how many Dmen the FLyers are going through.

Laughton made a nice little move in the Rangers zone in the third period and got the shot blocked.

Put Knuble with Laughton & Brayden Schenn and you got a nice line, with a built in nickname: the Old Man and the Teens

There's a Sandusky joke in here somewhere, but I'm not gonna touch that.....

One thing is though with Meszaros out, they will need a D man to play the point on the PP.

Who the heck is the next Dman up with Foster, Walker, Gus, Bourdon, Pronger and Mez out? Lilja, Manning?
- jstross

I'd go with Manning. With Gus out, he's the most mobile and capable guy. The only other option is probably Danny Syvret

Lilja is an option. Calling him up only adds 100K to the Cap.

I see a trivia question in a few years:

Can you name the 12 defenseman that played regular season games for the Philadelphia Flyers in the strike shortened season?

I have no interest in seeing Syvret. He's not an NHL defenseman in my opinion. If they want an offensive defenseman, they already have Foster. If they want more defense, I recall Lilja.

really nice to see a depleted and a bit downtrodden group come together and play a complete game tonight. excellent effort all around.

the 5 on 3 pk with the double minor was a thing of beauty.

would be nice to score a goal in either the first of third period.

mez. jesus f'ng cripes. i'm convinced this franchise is cursed.

welcome back knoob. wished you never left. hopefully you've got something in the tank for half a season. mellon, put your suit on. we need ya'.

I wouldn't mind seeing Manning. He's not way up the depth chart, but I didn't think he looked terrible last season.

I'd definitely choose Manning over Syvret.

Oh, definitely. I think it's more than proven that Syvret is AHL material.

Hopefully the Flyers do, as well. I like Bourdon and 3 concussions in a short time span? Spells bad news. Give him a year or so off and let him get OK; see if he can still play.

Murky waters ahead for MAB. It's hard to be optimistic about a guy who bonks his bean so many times.

I think you have Foster step up in that role, and he fully use his big shot. One thing I noticed this last game was the D men were getting good looks and good shots
