I am clearly biased because I am a huge fan and believer of O'Reilly, but making a trade of say Yakupov for O'Reilly is the kind of trade a cup winning team makes.
O'Reilly is a flat out winner, ala Drury.
Yakupov is not. - kingcong39
Are you high?
O'reilly was a second round draft pick who has 39 goals and 107 pts in 236 games. That's not even Sam Gagner territory, let alone our first overall pick that has a shot that even the vets are drooling over.
As far as being a winner O"reilly has played in one playoff series where he managed to step up and get 1 point as his team was beaten in 6 games.

can't believe I actually read that.
First Ryan O'Riley is not going to make the second line any better. In todays NHL you need to be able to play defense. Every one is making Gagner the scrap goat of that line but lets look at it.
Yakapov is trying to play defensively but is failing. Props to him for at least trying and given that he is 18 in a mans league good for him.
Gagner is trying Trying but again hasn't been that great at it. He is smaller but he is doing other things like winning draw and setting up Yakapov.
Hemsky. All I have to say is you that those guys at the COH won't ever give you a defensive error if you don't engage. feel free to score as many goal as you want if you don't even try to back check......
I don't care how many goals or points you put up. This second line is set to fail. - Oilnutz
I would like to see
Yakupov-RNH-Eberle
Hall-Gagner-Hemsky
might add a little more balance.

The fact Oiler fans don't like the idea, and neither would Dallas fans makes it probably a good trade. Oilers would win it though. Any time you can swap a relative comparable on the wing to center you win. Almost any time you can trade a winger for a center you win. You need top centers if you want to be a contender. - DTF69
This.
Oiler fans have to wake up.
Yes, it's one method to continue to build from within but there are others indeed.

Yeah I've got no issue with that either. The two so-called defensive liabilities (Yak and Hemsky) are somewhat bailed out by their linemates. PRV looks like he might become the best defensive player on that second line. He might need to take garbage man lessons from Smyth though. |

My real issue is Yak and Hemsky. I don't like Yak a rookie trying to do his own thing and play with Hemsky. It's just too much. I really did like Prv the other night and if he can play like that and chip in 10-15 goals a year he'll potetnially force Smyth or Jones out of Edmonton. |

Theoretically it's magic: perhaps our best passer with perhaps our best shooter. In practice it hasn't looked so hot so far.
People are itching to give up on PRV, but I think he can show us something. Maybe not what was expected when they drafted him, but perhaps better for our team in the long run given that we've added Hall and Yaks since then. |

Ryan Rishaug @TSNRyanRishaug
Paajarvi taking line rush with Horcoff and SMYTH.
I think the key with Prv is just let him play the way he is comforable. Maybe in a few years that offense comes, if not oh well. |

I hear Fistric was still paired with Peckham in practice yesterday and if that is the only indication it seems like he won't draw in against LA tonight.
Any one know for sure? |

Any updates on Ben Eager? I called the Edmonton RCMP to report him missing....they told me to check the obituaries in the journal in the upcoming days as it's rumoured that Zack Kassian KILLED him. I'm quite concerned for his well being - I-own_da-Northwest
No, not dead, but ended his career maybe though. Eager went down a warrior though as he came back and won that fight after taking a shot that concussed him.
Kassian is a gem though. Could turn out to be a good one. |

Funny you say that because our players actually have to win an award or a cup or 3 to get in the Hall of fame.
