What if i was Gagner and PRV? Would you guys do that? Maybe Colorado throws a 2nd rounder your way to balance it - Frank_Grimes

What would the oilers be willing to give up for Voynov? I know it won't happen, especially with Greene going down..but just for fun. - Deadmau55

Yeah buddy. Just like I'm sure you're stoked to come into said blog and tell him that Gagner isn't enough for the next player you dub a superstar. Who's up next? Vermette? Weiss? McDonald? You're a joke. - MaximumBone
If his offers were actually something like Vermette for Gagner, that would be more realistic. |

You're awesome pal, I bet you can't wait for his next blog where you don't trade one of the young kids for a different superstar, yet Gagner and second rounder will get it done.
The reason Luongo isn't an oiler isn't because Gagner is an overpayment let's just say that - Mystery

I agree that Gagner alone isn't enough to get O' Reilly. Clouts even said in his blog that the Oilers would need to overpay to get O' Reilly. The degree to which we'd need to overpay is where I think he's wrong. I also question whether Gagner is the right player for Colorado were such a deal to happen. |

To redirect the subject, who do you think the Avs might consider in a trade for O' Reilly from Edmonton(assuming he does get traded)? |

Totally!
We need a good defenseman, so Edmonton really isn't good trading partners. Though with Downie out for the season hopefully the Avs will shell out some money. I don't think O'reilly deserves 5 million after one good year. Though hard to argue when Jones got 4 million this offseason, of course that was UFA money. |

Cloutier, what do you think it would take to get Benn? Apparently he is holding out on Dallas amd badly wants to play in Canada. |

One of Hall or Yakupov and an NHL quality Dman as a starting point. In case it wasn't obvious, I'm insinuating that I don't think there's a deal to be made. |

I think we would all love to have Benn on the Oilers, but it would take a lot. I think we all know that asking for one of the Oklahoma Four and probably Yakupov in a deal is a non-starter for the Oilers. Maybe a package of Sam Gagner, Oscar Klefbom, and a 2nd round pick gets some traction. Or Gagner, Musil/Gernat/Marincin, and a 1st round pick. Who knows what it would take. I know I'd get an erection if it happened, but it's nothing more than a fantasy at this point. |

If there were a deal to be made (and I don't think there is), it would start with a top-6 forward and a top 4 dman. Add some picks and prospects and you'd be shaping a deal. |

I don't think you get an established top-6 F AND an established top-4 D for Benn. You probably get one established player, and one top grade prospect or young player. Then you can tweak the deal from there. Of course this is just my opinion, who the hell knows what Benn would actually fetch in a trade. Maybe the first proposal I mentioned (Gagner, Klefbom, and a 2nd) could be the framework for a deal. Maybe you add another prospect to that mix. Either way, I agree, I don't see a deal to be had.
If this Benn situation gets any worse, things could go south in a hurry for Joe Nieuwendyk. |

Actually, looking back on the proposal I made, I've changed my mind. It would take more for the Oil to get Benn. You'd have to add a guy like Marincin. Even then, I don't know if I'd do it from a Dallas perspective.
I kid you not, I would give up Gagner, Whitney, Hemsky, 2nd round pick and/or a prospect for Jamie Benn. |

Nathan Gerbe, Andrej Sekera, and a pick exchange. Gerbe can be a top sixth forward if he gets the ice time. Sekera is a top 4 damn and both have reasonable contracts |

I was thinking something around gagner, musil (or similar level prospect) and a 1st would be a reasonable starting point. Definitely would have a scary top 6. Have to take into consideration to a certain extent that Benn is holding out on Dallas and putting them in a tough situation.. fun to think about atleast. |
