Still winning.. do you hang out with Charlie Sheen... ? They came several times close prior to the lockout that cancelled a season. And they had guys that gave Toronto a reason to believe they could pull it off. They didn't always get the right supporting cast but it's far ahead of the crap they try to feed the fans today. It would be nice if they could learn from their previous mistakes and improve upon them. But it doesn't seem to be going that way.
- Two_For_Truth
Just because I am curious - Which team prior to the lockout came close and was more talented ("but it's far ahead of the crap they try to feed the fans today then this current team") then the current team? Give me a year, I want to check out the roster. |

I apologized to Lightning.. because you were coping and pasting his stats.. repeatedly asking me to read them.. he got offended because he thought I was making fun of him.. read my posts back.. I only insulted those that insulted me first.. namely you. - DoctorNHL
look. this is what you posted first.
Between 1990 and 1999, there were 2,600 names called at the NHL Entry Draft.
160 were selected in the first round.
Of those 160 career players, over 81 have played more than 500 NHL games.
The total means that only 3% of first rounders play 500 games.. over a decade...
The results also vary year to year... 12% of the players beyond the first round have 500+ games.. - DoctorNHL
lets break this down.

sure. sounds about right.
160 were selected in the first round... - DoctorNHL
wrong. 252 players were selected in the first round.
Of those 160 career players, over 81 have played more than 500 NHL games.
- DoctorNHL
okay

No. 80 players out of 252 players picked in the first round is about 30%.

not correct. see math above. it was roughly 13% (334 out of 2350) that played 200 games, so it would likely be much lower.

You are good at repetition.. but you think your word means something it doesn't lazy boy bring me the numbers to prove that trading a top line guy for draft picks is the smart way to do business...

I stopped listening to you a while ago.. 500+ games who are first liners... that was the argument trade a first liner for a first rounder... you might have missed this showing up late to the party.. you are more than welcome.. to get the numbers for Tool because he is incapable of doing it... the argument is the same.. none of those stats.. that were brought by me & others.. prove you will get a top line guy.. by trading a top line guy.. unless luck is involved... |

I don't care what you're trying to prove. I was just letting you know your numbers were way off. They made no sense. |

3 to 30% seems like a rounding error.

Comparing rosters isn't going to get you anywhere. Even if you could somehow prove that the Leafs have more talent now than they did in 1999, it's a broken argument. Relative to the teams today, the Leafs don't have anywhere near the amount of required talent, to compete for a Cup. |

Proct I see where you are getting your numbers.. but I was getting it from the whole draft.. 2600 players.. that was my comparison.. and not 200 games.. 500+ games.. and my challenge to the Tool was to name me which of those were top liners because that was his initial argument trade Lupul for a 1st rounder.. I was showing the effectiveness of the draft.. although the numbers were dated.. still not many first liners.. in the draft.. as there is 30 teams x 3 players currently.. how many of those were first rounders... was what I was saying.. we were arguing apples to oranges..
The tools argument still stands... it is better to trade a top line guy for a first rounder.. I say no...
