You need talent.
Lupul has talent.
A lot of Leafs don't have talent.
The Leafs lack talent.
The Leafs have lacked talent for too long.
We need talent.
Lupul has talent.
So retaining talent just seems like the right thing to do.
Seriously - we need more talent. - Atomic Wedgie
Signing the talent you do have, seems like a sound idea...... especially when you can get him to sign for a comparable rate. |

Sundin.
Guy couldn't buy love in this city because we traded Clarke for him. Possibly the best player the Leafs ever had, and this city wouldn't stop lobbing poop at him. - Feeling Glucky?
... I always believed Sundin was an underrated player and consistently defended him. He was completely wasted in Toronto. |

The fact that you had to defend him, and that he was underrated proves my point. |

Not even remotely close.
Are you going to suggest that McCabe Tucker or Lupul are comparable to Sundin?
I have made my point clear. You disagree. Fine. I really don't care enough to argue.
We will see how he does.

Reactions if the Leafs drafted first this year...
McKinnon- "why'd we draft a small soft forward? Isn't Kessel enough?"
Barkov- "why'd we draft a euro, didn't we learn from Sundin?"
Monahan- "toughness over skill, COULDA HAD MCKINNON!"
- Feeling Glucky?
When did Monahan become tough? |

Yeah that is exactly what I said.
Is there some reason why people can't stand when someone disagrees with a move they see as very similar to other mistakes the Leafs have made? |

Well said Gluckster. Sundin is not only among the best Leafs of all time. The fact that Leaf fans kep throwing poop at him, yet he showed his true class by allowing his jersey to be raised to the rafters. Sundin is a 1000% class act. Not his fault that in his latter career with the Leafs that the Leafs sucked. |

He was a point per game player last year. Enough with the negativity. He's a 1st liner. On a contending team, he would have a centre.
$5.25 milly may seem high, but name a guy who is better who you could get for less. - Atomic Wedgie
None of this would really be much of an issue if he had any form of consistency at any point in his career. Love the guy, cant say enough how hes one of my favourite players, but that term has me really nervous. Can he stay be healthy and be this productive at 32, 33, 34, 35? Im not so sure. |

either i quoted the wrong post, or you didn't see which one i quoted
I was responding to this:
That's an interesting comment.
When have the Leafs had a Crosby, Malkin or Datsyuk? Could this be because they trade away picks and don't sell high, but instead overvalue their own players that aren't winning them anything? - Aetherial
somebody else responded to the McCabe discussion with the same argument I would have put forward: he had one bad season with us. That's it. |
