weather he is on Columbus list or not they will not be willing to trade a franchise center for him. Neither would anyone else drafting in the top 5 this year. Those teams are rebuilding and if it works out for them by that time Kessel will be in the 30 range. - Sammich
Depends on the urgency in CBJ to put a team together now.
They may want a high profile scorer to put bums in the seats.
Plus they already have Ryan Johanssen at centre, along with Jenner, so they may be interested in a scoring winger
If things keep going the way they are going, with Phaneuf being captain and playing 25+ minutes a night, he's going to get a least 6 million a year. Especially if he scores more.
Kessel is going to get at least 7.5 million per year just to get him to stay. Maybe more. - Two_For_Truth
The simple inflation of salaries, and the comparative raises given to Grabs and Loops, based on their numbers, almost certainly means Kessel gets 6.5 per, at the very least.

then they trade down or offer their pick for another young highly touted prospect or two. It won't be a guy like Kessel. Besides as long as the Leafs are putting butts in the seats Columbus can take their time a rebuild properly.
Pretty well what i think. Honestly its his character that i like the most. Pretty sure every player likes him, seems humble and hard working, probably could be captain over Dion. - Leafland
Lupul would make a great captain. Leads by example, great with the media, great guy in general and in the locker room. Plus, Phaneuf wouldn't be able to play Justin Bieber in the locker room.

That's way too much in my opinion - AngryWhiteMale
At least 7 million per year. And that's conservative because if he wants to hit the UFA market, he can easily get that and he knows it.

Hypothetically,
If we end up with the 8th or 9th pick, I'd be willing to include that in a deal for Mackinnon.
8th/9th
Kessel
Bozak
??? (Something else to sweeten the pot)
