Most of us agreed 4.6 to 5 was acceptable , over that was a problem.I can't see anyone here b!tching at that, - VANTEL
I agree, 5 is good value and reasonable for both sides since Edler's been here his entire career so he obviously prefers to stay and not to mention that we've won back to back President's trophies. If he hit the open market it would have been pretty damn hard to turn down more money from a team like Detroit, especially if Lidstrom is recruiting.
If it was 5.5, even I would have been iffy on the contract, especially with 6 years. |

4.6 was dreaming. 40-50 point Dmen command 5+ million without playing any defense at all.
Edler is very good defensively, but he has a hiccup every few games. |

Was that a trade offer from our pool, I have Edler...?
EDIT- oh wait, that's Booner that took Stamkos first overall. - 1970vintage
I was definitely surprised that Stamkos was drafted over the Penguin centers. |

When Booner goes fishing off the SS MINOW in Mexico if he wins and is a castaway can I have his prize?
Nucker is paying 600 top prize. |

Well said, and pretty much every d-man will have an off game if you watch them close enough. The only guy that always seems to make the right play is Lidstrom, I loved watching that dude play.
Watching Edler, the one thing I'd change is that sometimes he's a little too patient and slow with moving the puck when the other team is forechecking, otherwise I don't see many mistakes at all. |

Even if Stamkos doesnt score(unlikely), he gets you 10-14 shots a game... I don't even know if shots count in this league??
Crosby and malkin get more points when the other is injured...

Shots count. It's Goals, Assists, Shots, Points, PP Points, Hits, and Blocks plus the 3 goalie stats. |

So that begs the question then... Who's Gilligan, who's the Skipper, the Millionaire and his Wife, the Movie Star, the Professor and Mary Anne? |

I'm not a fan of NTC's at all. Unless the player is willing to give up 1 million per on his contract, I wouldn't even consider it if I were a GM. They can come back to bite you in the ass big time. |

Elder is officially the anti-ehrhoff. He could have easily gotten 6 million on the open market.
So much for the "no one makes more than bieksa" rule... |

Guessing PK Subban's reps aren't all that happy with Edler deal. Going to be tough to pry 6-mil per now. #canucks #Habs
He makes a good point, there's no way Subban deserves more than Edler. |

According to Botchford he got a NYC:
@botchford: Alex Edler is extended, 6 years, $30 million. No concerns about the back flare up this fall
@taj1944: @botchford Any word if it has a NTC?
@botchford: @taj1944 ya, same as the others |

Thank god, because I'd take Edler over Ehrhoff for sure, and I think Garrison is going to be pretty damn solid as well. Our top PP unit looks great with those two and their slap shots at the points for the next few years. Breaking the rule to go 400k more for Edler is worth it IMO. I think Gillis knew that all along.

Well that explains the 5 million dollar cap hit.
He'll be 33 when the deal is up so no biggie. |

I think players should only be able to sign 1 year contracts, every year. That would make for some seriously f'ed up lineups. You could go from last to first and back to last in three years. |
