It goes back to the blue collar mentality and the championships they don't bring you always talk about. - dadeadhead
I was going to say something along those lines again, but it would be too easy. |

put mcmuscle and gerbe on IR
sign fragile tim to play 4th line with hecht and kaleta
bench timmy or hecht when scott needs to be in the line up
roll that 4th line 12 minutes a game and bank on the top 3 lines having fresher legs in the last 8 minutes of the games
if we are up a bunch play that line heavy in the third to save the legs of the top 3 lines for later in the year
if an injury comes up, they can move up 1 line for a few games
if they suck ass, put them on waivers and pull gerbe or mcmuscle off the IR
playoff time rosters are expanded and play whoever is needed
this only works if lindy would roll the lines for the entire season and focus on trying to keep the top 9 fresh for the stretch run
this only works if the GRINGO STICKS
I'll hang up and listen - homiedclown
Connolly at $4.5 million to even play that role? There's gotta be somebody cheaper that can fill the void. |

To be fair, I wanted Roy gone well before Connolly. To me, Connolly always was a non-factor. This team literally played much better when Roy was either out of the lineup or had a reduced role.
That being said, Connolly is still under contract for $4.5 million. That's way too much for the role he would fill here. |

We all love ownership's vindication. Unfortunately, the desire to win, and knowing how to win are two completely different things. |

it fits under the cap going by the moves I suggested
do you think that lineup gives this team a better chance to make it to the post season
a simple yes or no works
the sabres have no long term plans for hecht, or regehr as it is |

I'm not sure Connolly in that lineups helps or hinders compared to any other scrub. Connolly fits under the cap, but you can still have even more room using someone else. (Arnott?). |

The guy is 28 years old and has played in just over the equivalent of 2 full seasons. He was a sixth round pick. He was then a UFA pickup, then he was a throw in with Ott. He was skating third pair minutes on bad teams..
Aside from Lindy having faults (line changes, hanging on to his favorites, etc.) he can tell if a D man can make his roster.
I don't give a rat's fat ass what this guy has done in 4 practices. The waive is the right decision. |

the speed factor and upside was why I was thinking about it while mowing the yard
plus we really do not know if they had an interest in resigning him or not
the blueprint I laid out was solid either way
assuming the GRINGO STICKS

heart does not get this team in the playoffs though, see matt freaking ellis
my post was directing in getting the team to the playoffs, not leaning on tinkle boy in the playoffs |

I'm not sure speed does you that much good on the 4th line. If Connolly were even a $3 million/year player I might consider it. I wonder if Connolly makes it through waivers and then goes through re-entry (is that even in the new CBA?) I do think Grigorenko stays.
EDIT: to be clear, I don't hate your idea. I just think there are more cost effective ways to go about it. |

Personnel? You would be correct.
Terry Pegula is a guy that has almost never fired a guy in his life. It has made him a billionaire so I don't begrudge him. Unfortunately, that kind of loyalty rarely works in professional sports. He's going to have to learn that if he wants a Cup. |
