the other 3 UFA 's are better.. and cost less.. with no prospects, draft picks.
- niteislander

That's debatable. Luongo is a great goaltender.

I guess that's a good topic? Would you do Okposo for Luongo straight up(of course if DP was brought out)?
- Cptmjl

No... I like Poulin and Nilsson.

do i want luongo, No . But luongo for okposo? in a heartbeat. are you kidding.

people can blame Loungo all the want, Have you see his stats. Only reason why he did not win championship is b/c tim thomas was immortal.

- Spartiarti

and the rest of the Bruins pummled them physically. Thomas was incredible of course but it wasn't a one man show, far from it.

With the Dipetro buyout looming and Nabokov on the first bus out of town the Islanders are going to need goaltending. Bring Luongo home.

Luongo for Okposo

I like the way they look thus far but I'll keep it there until they play a season in the NHL. Hypothetically of course if we got Lu you are getting a true #1. For once there is no debate or maybe if he pans out BS which I'm sure we are ALL tired of?

I know I am going to take heat for this but I still do not see anything reat aout Poulin or Nillson. We can and need to do better to start winning.

Any guesses on the opening night top six on D? In camp, they'll have: Streit, Hamonic, AMac, Martinek, Carkner, Hickey, Finley, Landry...am I missing anyone? Wishart was sent back down. Don't figure Landry makes it. I think the other seven stay on the NHL roster though, since Hickey and Finley can't get sent down right away or else they can get claimed by their former teams.

Streit-Martinek
AMac-Hamonic
Hickey-Carkner
Finley

Sound about right for game 1?

He would keep your team in a lot of games which would help with the development of the young players. It must be hard for a group of young guys that have been winners at every level, finally make the NHL and then get put into a losing situation. Luongo is a good leader and great locker room guy.

Luongo's contract is a mess.

I would make a trade for a top line guy or a top 4 defenceman in a heartbeat.

But I like our young goalies.

I think they might keep 8 defensemen to start the season since Bailey and Joenesu are injured...

They have looked good with what little I've seen. I don't know if you noticed but fans tend to over value their prospects? Especially a team like the Islanders when that's all you have is prospects. Factor in some of these fans haven't seen enough drafts to realize that 98%(50% if we are talking about the Islanders for reasons we all know) of these kids don't pan out and they are ALL "Incredible prospects" before they play a season in the NHL.

It has to be? Someone like Tavares is obviously so mentally strong that I honestly think it just drives him harder? The kid is the best thing that's happened to this team in forever. Barring Hamonic and Martin you'd be hard pressed to find another player on our team with the same attitude. Winning is definitely not the slogan for this team from management to the owner to most of the players which we witness when they mail it in consistently. Bad attitude that spreads like cancer as anyone who has played team sports knows.

Yes he is amazing.. that is why u are trying to get rid of him. If Crosby did not bail him out in that gold medal game he would be known as the biggest choke artist goalie of all time. IMO>

with his contract and 3 prospects in waiting...i personally think if they traded KO they can get a more necessary return for a bigger hole on the roster.

He will be first call up when the injuries start.. and they will start quicly in this shortened season. You also have Vis in the mix when he finally shows up too.

KO would end up being a 35 goal scorer on another team and we would all want to kill Garth for trading him.

That choke artist would probably be one of if not best(take it easy on me with Smith because anyone who actually watched him knows he wasn't the best around)goalies this team ever had. Again, just for arguments sake of course

I would have no problem trading Schneider and going with Luongo. He is easily good enough to win. The problem is nobody is mentioning Schneider as a option right now. As far as the gold medal is concerned, Yzerman, Babcock and the rest of Team Canada Management had the availablity of every current Canadian goaltender and they went with Luongo. Just saying.

Which was a good choice. Every time the team lost whether it was the Canucks or team Canada all eyes turned to him. Very little of that was warranted IMO
