The Makarov Rule is an informal nickname given to a National Hockey League rule regarding the awarding of the Calder Memorial Trophy. This rule states that only players younger than 26 years old on September 15th of their rookie season can be considered as a Calder candidate.

This rule was created after Sergei Makarov won the Calder in 1990 after posting 86 points in 80 games in his rookie season, while being 31 years old.
