uhh its about 1/3 of the start of the season.......regardless of what month it is, it is still the "start" of the season...once about the 35 game mark, we'll see if they're still in the playoff hunt...

The fact is, aside from last season, the Leafs start terrible and heat up in February for a "Late Run". You haven't been paying attention.

I'll make your night and take the bait:

Our superstars are aged 18-22. Most players of that age aren't incredibly defensively responsible.

Players like Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins will end up far superior 2 way players to Kessel.

Yakupov will be our "Kessel" (Plays offensively minded most of the time).

- gretzky

Will that happen with the dynasty the Oilers are building?

yet they ended with a 3-5-2 in the last 10 games of the season...yea that sounds like heating up... they were doing well the past 2 seasons at the start...then fizzled, i did not say they didnt have winning streaks in between that, but it would never be good enough because of the constant losing streaks after the first month or 2 of the season...they cant afford a 5 game losing streak this year without getting any points in those games...the leafs are very lucky that the sens have had such bad injury problems in this shortened season or they wouldnt stand a chance at making the playoffs, i'd say it'll be hard enough as is because there are non playoff teams currently that will most likely heat up more than the leafs will

The Sens are nothing special. They overachieved last season. The Leafs will make the playoffs based on their goaltending, not what team faces injuries. The Leafs themselves have had a lot of injuries.

The Sens are a pretty decent team with excellent coaching and goaltending. I am not sure they have very good depth at this point which is important for a good team but without injuries they'd possibly be a cup contender this year.

Just my opinion.

That's the thing, people only remember last season. Since the lock-out, they usually start terrible and get hot after the all-star break. Last season was the exception.

And anyways, prior seasons mean squat.

so the leafs have lost a norris trophy winner, a goaltender that leads the league in GAA and SV% and a #1 centre that has provided over a 1 ppg over his career?..........good lord...you really are a homer...if the leafs make the playoffs and thats a huge if, the leafs will make the playoffs because of other teams misfortunes, i would take the sens line up healthy over the leafs any day, i dont know many others that wouldnt (except homer leaf fans like yourself)

A few guys with career years, but a few guys with lots of room for growth too. I like what they're doing over there.

Well I mean I would rather they sucked but you get what I'm saying lol.

Spezza gets injured every year. Reimer got injured and his numbers are close to Ottawa's #1.

And again, the Leafs will make it based on their talent and very good goaltending. You think they could have made it last season with more injuries to teams ahead of them? Of course not.

People should wake-up and realize the Leafs are a lot more talented than people realize. Most think they're 30th overall in terms of talent.

Point taken, but I'd say most people count them as the 16th or 17th, not even close to 30th.

yup...i'd say unless the sens can hold it together, the leafs will end 8th in the east...which more than likely puts them around 16th or 17th...depending how the west finishes...their style of play has improved with new coaching, thats a given, but talent wise, they still are a bubble team to make the playoffs even if they stayed healthy

I think the Leafs have the best depth at wing in the entire NHL. It's pretty ridiculous. Kessel, Lupul, JVR, Kulemin, Frattin, Macarthur.

Guys like Kadri not being the "Bust" everyone pegged him as helps their future at centre.

Montreal is first now in the East. Anything can happen. Almost any team can make it. The Leafs were a playoff team last year until their collapse the last 6 weeks of the season with sub .900 goaltending. If they continue to get terrific performances in nets, they will make it.

So for the record, you believe my listing of Kessel, Lupul, JVR, Frattin, Kulemin Macarthur and saying it's the best depth is a shockingkly homer statement by me? Did you read those names? Kessel and Lupul were both PPG last season. JVR is second in goals scored in the NHl this season. Frattin has played terrific and his prodction is great. Kulemin plays good two-way hockey and has scored 30 goals in this league. Macarthur has scored 60 points. But that's a homer statement? WTF?

Are all teams with lots of depth on wing... Several I don't think we are better than, but we are definitely top 10, and quite possibly top 5 on the wing

Hall, Eberle, Hemsky and Yakupov off the top of my head. Yup. Definitely terrible awful wingers.

Do you ever just sit and read some of the things you write? Just because your team has been doing well doesn't mean you have to go insane.
