In that case, I'd rather acquire Luo. With his contract, they'd need to send more to make it worthwhile than with Schneider. |

Somehow, I don't think some of the Vancouver fans would want Schneider on Toronto either. Because as much as they hate to admit it, part of their fascination with Luongo moving to Toronto was seeing shifting a hefty contract to a team they hate. |

Yep. But the Leafs don't need Luongo or want that contract. In fact, it's looking like no one wants it. |

But if they had Luongo right now they could have a team .934 SV% instead of a team .931 SV%. Imagine the difference that'd make. |

No? I really wouldnt...he scores goals, canucks arent having a problem with that, thats all kessel does...he's not useful for anything else...having a 14 mill 2nd line would not please me in the slightest - annoyance_101
That's a rather outdated stereotype of Kessel. Did you not see his highlight pass to JVR last night? The guy is becoming more of a great playmaker than great goalscorer. He's an all-around great offensive player. |

This coming from an Oilesr fan who's "Star" forwards are so one-dimensional it's not funny... - RogerRoeper
Not like the noted two-way beast Phil Kessel eh?
Hes wrong though. Id peg you as the biggest homer on this site. |

If Kessel played on any other team, no ope would cast him as the poster boy for being one-Dimensional. No one cared when he was on Boston.
Are you guys going to finish 30th overall again? You're still not nearly as good as the "Horrible" Leafs. |

Ok, even so, all offense, which is still my point... saying he's all offense is not a stereotype, its true...the team is defensively better because of carlyle... |

Kessel is playing fine defensively.
I told people like you last year Wilson was the problem, but you said the defense and goaltending was the worst in the NHL. |

I watch a lot Leaf games. Trust me, anyone who says Kessel is a good defensive player is being a huge homer. He isn't the worst guy in the league defensively... but he is well below average. He led the Leafs in turnovers by a significant amount last year too.

The issue is, he IS considered by far the worst defensive player in the entire NHL by far. Your superstars in Edmonton are just terrible defensively.
And what do stats from last year mean? Ron Wilson's system was a joke. It's being proven this year how bad it was. |

uhh its about 1/3 of the start of the season.......regardless of what month it is, it is still the "start" of the season...once about the 35 game mark, we'll see if they're still in the playoff hunt... |

I'll make your night and take the bait:
Our superstars are aged 18-22. Most players of that age aren't incredibly defensively responsible.
Players like Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins will end up far superior 2 way players to Kessel.
Yakupov will be our "Kessel" (Plays offensively minded most of the time).
For the record, I wouldn't build a team around Yakupov or Kessel. It's a good thing we have a bunch of talent to surround Yak with. He's scary talented but I want a more rounded player to build around. |
