You are probably right, although he didn't get named captain in Philly, or get awarded a spot on the Canadian national team by shear luck.
Long story short, he is the ideal 2nd line pivot on the Kings. - Wodanaz

He has always had the talent, he just took his position for granted I think. Everyone has heard the stories about Carter and Richards focusing more on partying than on hockey. Getting traded was the wake-up call they both needed. |

I think that was more stories then fact. LA has two really good players on their hands.

They're kids. If they want to party, fine by me. I know I did before I got hitched, but it never interfered with my work ethic. It seems to me they did just fine in the last nine months or so. |

The point is to not let it affect your job. Since Richards was team captain I don't think the Flyers were too impressed with the example he was setting. This is just me speculating of course. But all you need is a Google search to find all the various articles and stories about the reputations they were getting in Philly. |

Didn't Philly get to the finals a year prior to the trade? How bad could it have been? Seems like media hoopla to me...a means/explanation to the trade.
Doesn't matter one bit to me. My favorite team won it's first championship, and that trade was instrumental in this occurrence.
However, if you're right, and their negligence affects their future play...well then
That being said |

I heard on TSN Radio that the 19th is for a 48 game season. If they go 50 the season could start as soon as the 14th or 15th. - Gunslinger

TSN reports Islanders at Sabres Thurs 1/17 7pm - Skeezix459
Depending on when a new CBA is reached, the league - according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun - has 50-game and 48-game schedules drawn up. A 50-game season would start on Jan. 15 and a 48-game season would start on Jan. 19. The existing 2012-13 NHL schedule was already canceled through Jan. 14. |
