Injuries my concern with JVR....
- Fruitcakenipple

carlisle had to have had input as whether to trade Schenn or not IMO...and if he didnt envision Schenn adapting to his def system, then there you go

He's not to Markov levels of injury proneness yet? (I seriously doubt that's a word.) Long layoff to heal..quite possibly back up to snuff. Hoping the same for Whitney.
- sanfordnson

Ditto for me on Whitney because he's been a secret weapon for me in my hockey pool lol - when he's healthy...that guy's under the radar, he could pile up some points on that team

Other than a concussion and broken foot last year, no real issue.

I wouldn't be shocked if JVR and Schenn both do really well going forward and it's actually one of those mythical 'good for both teams' type moves

yes.

He's a points machine when healthy. But his (frank)in foot has been chronic. Need him good to go until guys like Schultz and Klefbom can take a bigger role.

Kinda funny how a lot, not all, but a lot of Leaf fans are so quick to hate on Dougie Hamilton now. The kids 19 years old, there's going to be some growing pains with him. Much as there was with a guy named Pronger, who was traded at that tender age of 20 because he wasn't meeting expectations. Not that he'll turn out as good as Pronger, but jeesh, give him some time!

Chara was traded at the age of 23, became a dominant defenseman in his later 20's. Hamilton will be a very good NHL'er when it's all said and done!

One player that I don't see making the team will be Carter Ashton. Why Brian Burke ever traded away Keith Aulie for this guy is a mystery. Joe Colborne is another one.

?

Aulie wasn't any sort of loss. Big but other than one good fight I don't think the Leafs lost much. The have the D prospects to spare, and when Rielly and even Finn were drafted he became kind of irrelevant.

It was a contract thing with Aulie I believe...either trade him or lose him to waivers...or something like that....

I'm going to throw this out there.........

Dougie Hamilton is at best a 3 or 4 defensemen. For the past couple of years i've heard all the hype. i watched him very carefully during this tournament. He will struggle in the NHL. Big time.

Revisiting the Kessel trade. It basically works out to Kessel for Seguin and a bottom pairing defensemen.

As of right now, unless Hamilton proves me wrong. Leafs won that trade.

- faceto27

So cute.

I see Canada's all star jr team had another successfull game. Good to see they went with the same goalie....going with the name instead of who actually should have been the starting goalie.
How embarrassing.

Can you imagine the outrage if Schenn plays well in Philly??
- burn

Schenn lacks footspeed.

JVR lacks courage.

One is easier to overcome.

I wasn't sad to see Schenn go, although I wish him well.

Not too well, though. Not on the Flyers.

I'm seriously thinking of prioritizing some of these young Oilers when I draft in a couple of pools, I'm thinking my opponents will still be looking at more experienced bigger names in the first couple of rounds, but this could be a year where these Oil kids surpass some obvious all-star names for points...any insight into what the Oil top six forward lines will look like?

Grigorenko finished the tournament with 33 poops on goal.

First time I've actually read a Garth blog. That is AWESOME.
