Good news for the Leafs that a lot of the Marlies have been playing well, because when inevitable injuries happen, guys stepping in from the farm will be one of the many 'ifs' they need to go their way this season

Burn,

I think he will struggle in the NHL. Players are faster and stronger. He looks lost out there and out of position too many times.

Perhaps with proper coaching he can overcome these. But anybody thinking that he steps into the NHL and becomes an instant top 4 pairing is sadly mistaken.

Because of 4 or 5 games??? ease off a tad. he's 19.... and dominating the OHL.

I'm not saying he's a stud or that he's a sure fire #1 dman, but it's far too early (off 5 games) to call him a bottom par.

You're right. They did commit to Broll and I forgot about Scrivens situation. If we get Luongo then either Scrivens or Reimer needs to be moved out or we maybe lose them through waivers
- faceto27

If they get Lou I can't envision a way where the Leafs aren't including one of the 2.

Spott was also horrible. Spent too much time trying to line match and it bit him in the ass.

The dpairs were never the same throughout the tourny. Changed up every game. Absolutely moronic. Names in a hat.

Murphy and Rielly together in OT???? Does he have a clue?

Mr. Schenn dominated junior hockey too.

Agree that it is early. I just don't see all the hype. When your big like he is, it is easy to dominate over 17 and 18 year olds. Different story when you're playing against men.

And the good news for the MArlies is that if/when they lose guys to call ups they still have guys that have been basically getting spot duty that can step in. I really hope McKegg and Ross can get in regularly when the season gets going.

Not even close to Hamilton..... Hamilton is dominating.

Because you only saw him on big ice... that's not his game.

Ya this lockout has screwed up the development of alot of young kids. Kids that would normally be getting ice time in the
AHL aren't getting it now because of the number of NHL'ers that are play in the AHL

I'm having a hard time envisioning that the Canucks would want either.

Both can be lost on waivers, and the Canucks already have a young guy they are grooming.

Burn,

This was the anaylsis of him coming out of junior. As per the Hockey News.

ASSETS: Has excellent shutdown ability and leadership qualities. Is steady, bull-like strong and takes the man with aplomb. Loves to hit and block shots. Strong positionally, he has the mobility to recover when beat. Makes a solid first pass.

Notice they say he has the mobility to recover when beat, and make a solid first pass.

You saw him play with the Leafs. He was brutally slow, and his first pass was far from solid.

Easy to dominate in junior, is all i'm saying. Playing against big strong fast men is a different story.

Ya I doubt the Nucks take either one of them. Unless Burke force (frank)s Gillis to take Reimer as a salary dump

Too early to judge - defencemen take time to develop.

It could go either way.

Its never too early to call a defenseman a bust Burn. Remember Schenn is a bust at age 22.

I think the trade was a good one. JVR should be just the type of forward the Leafs need.

This is one of those deals that will either cement Burke as a great trader or will bury him.

He will play well in Philly, He'll have a better Partner probably and the Flyers system will be better for him and JVR will probably be injury prone for the leafs.

I think it will work out Ok as well. I think JVR has shown a lot, and still has more to show. He's just got to put it all together.

Am just saying, some on here think that Schenn can't play in the league at all and I think he's going to show a lot more in Philly than he did in Toronto (save for spurts).

He's not to Markov levels of injury proneness yet? (I seriously doubt that's a word.) Long layoff to heal..quite possibly back up to snuff. Hoping the same for Whitney.

I wouldn't be shocked if JVR and Schenn both do really well going forward and it's actually one of those mythical 'good for both teams' type moves

I think the trade will work out fine. If JVR continues to improve as he has it'll be very nice.
