We was starting to think the hurricane got you.

Christmas was good, actually had a couple of my brothers up for Christmas dinner, 17 ppl in all, it was pretty crazy.

How's things with you ?

- Rayven

Nope, all is well with me. I had about 10 over for Christmas eve dinner. Had to fry about 13 pounds of fish and make sauce. Just haven't been coming to the site or any hockey site. Lost interest since the lockout.

With a $60 million cap, there are more than a few teams that will be up against the wall.

It will take more than one buy out to fix some of these teams problems, and trading will be a pain in the rear with so many sellers in the lead up to the 2013-14 cut off point.

Look at the TV deals of other leagues...that's the BIG difference with the NHL. Most TV deals are regional coverage per team except of the NBC deal which brings up to 200M per year.
- Symba007

That's all the more reason a team like the rangers or the leafs (I'm assuming both have pretty nice regional tv deals) should be sharing more with teams like Phoenix & Florida, etc (who I'd assume dont have a whole lot of $ coming in from their tv deals)

I'm just a novice on the issue,
But it makes sense to me that if the "NHL" wants to keep hockey in these untraditional markets to try and "grow the sport" in the long run,
I get that line of thinking...
But to make it reasonably work, the teams like Philly, Boston, Montreal, etc are gonna have to share a bigger % with the teams like Columbus, Carolina, etc

Otherwise, no matter what the revenue split is...
There will still be a HUGE disparity in what teams at the top & teams at the bottom make...
And that just isn't good for the "league"
Competitively AND financially

With the buyout clause for one player, that will help many teams, including MTL....Byebye Gomez and his 7.3M cap hit.

That would leave them with $7.1 million to spend on 8 players, not much quality at that price point per.

Next offseason should be pretty crazy...
I'm almost positive the Sabres will use the buyout on Leino
And with young prospects like Grigorenko & Armia most likely for action, along with a bunch of young defensemen just about ready...
I'm really interested to see what kind of additions the Sabres make
ESP for this season (assuming there is one)...
I'd think now more than ever a team like Anaheim is going to want to trade guys they don't think they can re-sign (perry, getzlaf) to get good young (cheap) players in return...
The offseason should be pretty crazy for just about everyone though,
Either losing players or gaining them

You don't seem to get this rather basic point either.

Each person has an opinion, and that has some intrinsic value when voiced. If you disagree, fine, say that. But when most everybody disagrees with you, you don't post 100X as much to create some apparent false equivalency on the board... unless of course you're motivated by some peculiar wish to be a 'hockey buzz celebrity', or something similarly ridiculous.

But alas, it seems to always be the case that those with the least to say end up saying the most.

For MTL, it's a one year problem, in 2014, they have Gionta (5M), Markov (5.75M), Kaberle (4.25M) going UFA

You will see teams make some trades and buyout some guys in their last year of their deal to make cap space.

Sense from some conversations: #NHL folks really believe new offer basis for a deal. #NHLPA players not sold on many parts of proposal.

at this point, i hope the NHL cancels regular seasons for 4 years, which is widely publicized as the median NHL career. there are tons of 'logistics' and 'facts' that make this impossible, but i think it would be great seeing all these female doges out of work. the job market for gym teachers and personal trainers will be saturated for years.

It will be kind of nice to see lots of trades for a change. I think this part of the NHL proposal facilitates it:

"Ability for Clubs to retain/allocate Salary and Cap Charges in the context of Player Trades within specified parameters."

I wonder what the "specified parameters" are?

We get it: 'systemtool' believes Bettman is largely responsible for the lockouts because he's been involved in three of them. Trust me, we're all aware that you think this... and each time you repeat yourself, we care a little less.

- Turkmenbashy

You obviously dont get it "turkmenbashy", because I've been saying all along that both sides have to shoulder equal responsibility in this mess.

That said, please feel free to display how little you care about my opinion by ignoring it and not responding to my posts. Otherwise, this whole honey boo boo act about your superiority is tiresome and nauseating.
