So this is typical of your whole stance...
It happens maybe one in a hundred that a player outplays their contract. It happens the other way about 40% of the time. So you want the rules to favor the one over the 40. This is the same way the PA is negotiating right now. Ridiculous. - Iggysbff
I'd like to see where you came up with those statistics. Here's what's typical of my whole stance. That it's a two way street. You and the NHL want it to be a one way street.
And both you and the NHL don't feel that the Owners should take any responsibility for the mistakes they make.

So why are you against getting rid of them? - Cheeseballin
Because it will help. But it won't stop. This is not a fixable problem until we all grow up. |

[quote=MJL]So the players are agreeing to move to 50/50 for the betterment of themselves? And for sure the Owners are all about the League, and certainly aren't looking out for themselves!
Matt Carle now sucks for TB!
Yup.....in a way I believe they have accomplished that..... All the owners...probably not....but it is in their best interest as well to have 30 financially solid team....it obviously increases the value of all the franchises....so in a way sure they are looking out for them selves ......
And good riddance to Carle and the fluff JVR.....

So why wouldnt you want to help even if it lowered it by a little?
While at the same time we make universal healthcare in this country possible |

wtf are you talking about... is losing millions taking responsibility?
The owners take all the risk in this business. Trying to fix the system is taking responsibility.
Christ EVERYONE here knows your position... we get it... you dont need to keep yammering on and on and on and on and on about the same thing everyday.

The only flaw in their plan is that what they want isn't going to create 30 financially solid teams.

Legislators would just waste, steal & squander the additional monies. Gov't accepts money from gun lobbyists(gun laws won't change). We spend billions to "defend" the oil countries yet gas has never been more expensive. Pharma companies don't cure anything, they just sell you a pill to supress the problem. Wall Street fu*ks up so bad they need to be bailed out yet still hand out record bonuses. Gov't wont solve the problem. This country is morally bankrupt and obsessed with the "me-first/gotta get mine" mentality. Sadly, the knee-jerk over-reactions to follow will be a waste. Most of the time, the problem begins and ends at home. It makes more sense to require a license to have children than to have a gun. |

Then there may be a contraction or a re-location.....but only after they have a CBA where by failure is not assured. |

Obviously, my point has not been clear enough. A ban on assault weapons is needed. Only military personal, and police officers should be allowed to own one(forget the fact that when you do that, you make it harder for them to have assault weapons, and if some nut does get one, and the police don't, forget about it) But until we can figure out why we kill, the killing will not stop. Saying "Ban assault weapons" will not stop the killing. Will it help? Yes. But people will find other ways. Then what? Place the blame on that new object? Or will we finally admit we have a bigger problem on our hands. |

It's going to take far more then that. The CBA the Owners want doesn't ensure anything. It's likely going to result in more of the same.

Anybody bring up the counter argument of blaming matches for starting forest fires and killing people in fires and how maybe we should ban them? Or how cars should be banned when somebody kills somebody in that fashion? Those are my favourites. |

Oh yes...
One slight difference between those things though is that only one is a machine designed to kill people.
