Nobody cares what the player's think anymore!!!

Unfortunately it is the players that will be the only one looking bad when this is all said and done!!!

- jimmc7722

Plenty care what the players think. And is who winds up looking bad when this is all said and done really matter? How is the League going to look if it turns out that none of what they fought for in the CBA changes anything in the future?

Slightly better than the PA will feel for throwing away 7 or 8 hundred million in salary to achieve nothing of significance.

They shouldnt be fighting for any of it to begin with.

The players get to share in the profits of the league but when owners lose money what happens?

The players are employees, and should get the contracts they are awarded, and thats it. I understand their complaint of signing contracts and being told those contracts wont be upheld. At the same time they have it damn good with a 50/50 split.

If the PA wants to further extended this process into a court battle that is horrific imo.

I know a lot of us complain we may not come back as it stands right now. I think most of us will. Perhaps pissed off, and not willing to buy merchandise or tickets, but we will watch on tv. Eventually maybe go to a game a year.

If this drags out longer than this season, which is very possible if this turns into a court battle. I will have to seriously consider the NFL instead of the NHL. At the end none of them care because they assume revenue will always be coming in. Fans will come back. With every day passing... We will see...

I agree the Owners shouldn't be fighting for any of it. The Owners should take care of their businesses, and take responsibility for their failures and look within for real solutions. Instead of repeatedly asking others to pay for their repeated failures, and instead enact real change and real solutions. Players are willing to do their share. What are the owners prepared to do?

This is the owners fault. They handed out rediculous contracts and while I dont know if its legal, all it would have taken was a meeting to talk about decreasing the amount of insane contracts.

Thats one aspect. The second is having teams like the Panthers, Jackets, Coyotes, etc where they are. Unless those teams become dominant forces in the league the fans wont come. A small amount of UFA's will sign there, and you have to build purely from the draft and hope your kids decide on staying.

The owners need to fix that. Not worry about revenue sharing. Just move the teams that dont have a chance in hell. Throw those three into Quebec City, Hamilton and Seattle/Halifax. Then watch what happens to revenue/profits.

That would be the only thing I would be fighting for as a player. That would ensure league prosperity for "future players". I wouldnt be fighting for make whole or whatever else.

They are all stupid imo for not realising this.

Guys, I'm extremely sorry that I offended people by not picking Quick...the hands-down best goalie in the league. I'm sorry I had an opinion and that from this day forward I will not ever voice such a comment as my opinion again. The Kings are now my favourite team, because they are the best in the league this year.

How are the players willing to do their share? By taking a lesser percentage share of revenue going forward.

First of all, the top money making teams have to do far more to help the struggling teams. The wealth of the League has to be more evenly distributed. The revenue sharing they are willing to do is not enough.
Teams such as Columbus, who have failed to develop their franchise and their team into a competitive team for the better part of a decade, have to make changes to their business model. Hopefully hiring John Davidson will get that pointed in the right direction.
And if some of these Owners have to dip into their personal wealth or the equity of the team, to stabilize the financial issues, then so be it.
The League needs to look into issues such as re-location.

Amen!

And I'll add, protect schools. Add state of the art security systems, with BR barriers, and have armed and well trained guards at every school. Whatever it costs. Raise my taxes if necessary to pay for it. I will gladly do so. I'm sick of this.

Dosent taking a lesser share help the struggling teams stay afloat and keep them from folding, therefore keeping more jobs for the players. Why wouldnt the players want to do that?

The players are willing to do so for the better of the League. Although I don't feel that either the NHL or the NHLP feel that any teams are in danger of folding.

Ok. Revenues dry up and profits soar. Did you do economic policy for Bush?

- Canada Cup

Your statement makes no sense and you should leave attempts at comedy to someone else.

Revenue is soaring while profits are drying up. That would be more accurate.

The players are willing to do what's best for the league? Maybe if it comes with huge salaries, not one player isn't looking out of themselves, if they aren't they would be the dumbest person on the face of the planet.

If Bettman says that Fehr misled the players, well then it must be true!

How about the 4 owners that issued statements saying the same thing?
