This whole "cars kill too, should we ban them as well?" argument is the weakest sh!t going on the net today. Cars have a practical use NECESSARY FOR SOCIETY TO FUNCTION, GUNS DO NOT! Without cars and transportation the global economy crashes. Without guns, the world is a safer and better place.

People have "mental issues" and "snap" all over the world and don't have ANYWHERE NEAR the gun violence that the US does, now why is that? Could it be that guns are too engrained into American culture and collective mentality, and that guns are too readily available/accessible?

- As_I_See_It

No your take away all guns theory is as weak as poop. Chicago has toughest gun laws in the country....Go look at their gun crime statistics brainiac.....

The sole purpose of having the right to own a gun is so the government isn't the only one's with the guns.
Dictator's can only take over unarmed citizens..
The only way the government will take away the citizens guns is through civil war.

In saying that, I think some adjustments on to ammo, clip sizes and maybe a signed mental health evaluation for people wanting guns isn't irrational.

- tmlfan17

That may have been the case when the 2nd Amendment was written or during the times of the Civil War. But trust me, the Citizens today would not stand a chance again the American Military if it fell under the control of a dictator.

You can have a rifle to hunt with. You can have a handgun if you feel you need it for protection. But it needs to be harder to get and just as hard to keep. But you can not have assault weapons or high capacity magazines designed for one purpose only. And if your hobby is shooting things up with those weapons. Time for you to find a new Hobby. All in my opinion of course.

Could've done a lot of things. Doesn't change that Gun laws need to change.
- MJL

Gun laws changed.....Sure, but eliminating them is ridiculous and not going to happen.

Try not to be a Richard.
- bixll

your thinking is backwards...for some reason, killing in your mind is inevitable and going to happen. according to you if its not a gun it would have been a bomb...

WHY are you rationalizing that the killings are a foregone conclusion?

EDIT: youre the one seemingly glossing over the fact that 26 innnocent people were needlessly killed in a classroom for no reason at all and the your worried about a dictatorship knocking on your door and you fighting off an entire country and yet somehow im the Richard??

DO NOT PUT WORDS IN MY MOUTH. I said, if he did not have a gun, he may have built a bomb, which could have been worse..

Yep. But we need to make it harder for any Human to wipe out 26 other Humans in a matter of minutes. Or should we just do nothing because Humans will just find another way?

So?

Those people having access to weapons that are made for the sole purpose of killing many people quickly shouldn't be addressed then?

How about making bullets $100 each instead of 10 cents each.
- Scooby_Doo

I don't think that would work, the price of a hitman would just go up accordingly, lol

Seriously the problem is as stated that most murders are committed with stolen guns anyway so taking guns away from responsible owners is not the answer. I really do not have an answer as there seems to be too many mentally ill people out there that are not being dealt with. That being said how can you read minds?

Tell me about it , the Mets gangbusted AA on this one ....
- Alexzanki

Yeah, the Mets TOTALLY GANGBUSTED the Jays by trading for a couple prospects who have yet to play an MLB game, with a catcher that's already had multiple surgeries on his back, knee and hand, while the Jays receive a 2012 Cy Young Award winner when they're in win mode now.

Yeah.... 'cause all the "banning" of drugs has really made them hard to get. History proves time and time again whenever you "ban" something, or make it very hard to get, that product or activity will be driven underground where there is absolutely no regulation.

agreed. and a classroom of dead children every now and then? hey, there's a price to freedom, right? at least they'll be ready for the bombers.
- DoubleDown

There is no classroom full of dead children if one armed individual was at that school to greet the sick SOB. A police officer or Principal should have a firearm locked up on school premises. They should also be trained with the fire arm just in case such an event is to occur.
Why do think these shootings always take place in front of buildings that so No Concealed Firearms on Premises.....
It's because their soft targets ad you can't wrap your liberal mind around it....Don't worry your sickness is treatable

You are correct, but how often does an army unleash full force on a civilian population. The main point is that people don't trust the govt enough to let them be the only ones in control of guns.

I agree that those assault weapons have to go. In this case I would like to know why his mother had those guns in the first place? Just seems odd to me. Just one for protection if that was the reason would have been enough.
