Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, was the sole representative of gun rights’ activists on the various Sunday talk shows. In an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” Gohmert defended the sale of assault weapons and said that the principal at Sandy Hook Elementary School, who authorities say died trying to overtake the shooter, should herself have been armed.

“I wish to God she had had an M-4 in her office, locked up so when she heard gunfire, she pulls it out and she didn’t have to lunge heroically with nothing in her hands. But she takes him (the shooter) out, takes his head off before he can kill those precious kids,” Gohmert said.

To be fair, you aren't interpreting the story correctly.

All children will still be graded the same.

What will be different is looking at acceptable rates of passing as a whole - benchmarks on how to assess the quality of education being provided.

I'm not saying I'm in favour of it. Just saying you need to realize what is actually going on.

Nothing at all, as a gun owner, it is not the guns that kill. It is people...if they want to kill, they will find a way to do so. It is a terrible thing, but it is not the fault of the guns. Someone had to pull the trigger. The issue is not for the law bidding citizen anyway. Most murders are done with guns that were not purchased legally in the first place. How can you ever stop this?

Let me ask a simple question. If the shooter at that school had a knife instead of an assault weapon. Do you think the Adults would have had a chance to overwhelm the punk and stop him from killing 27 people? Not saying there wouldn't have been any injuries or fatalities. But do you think the results would have been the same? What chance did they have against an Assault Rifle with high volume magazines?

I was responding to one post by Buffalo--Sabres guy. Go back and read it. I wasn't stating anything other than it was a terrible analogy. I told myself I was done commenting on this topic today, but when I see people still making comments like that one, I have a hard time not responding with a little sound logic. If you agree with what he posted, well then I guess nothing more needs to be said.
If I misunderstood his point, fine my apologies.

Not only is that true, but tons of people in the wake of the trajedy, thier first thought was "Obama crazy if he think he takin away my guns". Its so messed up. Its like finding out a baby was killed by a drunk driver (which happened here a few weeks ago) and your first thought is "well I better bot get arrested for drunk driving! That girl was terrible at drunk driving but I am good at it. I deserve that right".

100% agreed...d!ckey is awesome and has a few more years to produce solid numbers; blue jays have put themselves in position to go DEEP in the playoffs and need to win now; prospects wont help.

the mets lost with d!ckey, im sure they can lose without him...they werent 1 pitcher in his prime now from being a contender so they leveraged that player for 2 stud prospects.

fair trade...although that wont be known for a few years.
