It was a staff party and this one woman wouldn't shut up. Obviously drank too much. He eventually let her tell a joke which bombed and the crowd lit her up like bad.

even "good" standup crowds are sometimes off-putting to me. i find it extremely weird when they get into auto-laugh mode and laugh at every little thing.

i tried watching the new don glover standup on Nets and it was just mediocre at best and i just became fixated on the crowd's constant hive-mind laughter

i think it's the liquor that does that.

9 out of 10 people are clinically retarded if tested by a professional and they go into these things wanting to laugh. add 2 gin and tonics and 3 beers to that and you've got a perfect recipe for auto-laugh.

This reminds me of a special i watched on Netflix by a different guy and it had the same issue. Dudes jokes were okay, but the crowd was killing themselves with laughter and I watched another 5 or so minutes just for the cuts to the people in the crowd keeling over in lolz

there is nothing more fake in the world of stand up comedy than the "comedy central presents" stand up specials

i've heard a couple different comedians (John Mulaney, forget who else) say that the crowds are warmed up to death and are told to laugh at everything because it's for a taping. they'll usually tape 2-3 the same night and often times the crowd has no idea who they'll be seeing that night so they're usually not actually fans of who they're seeing. i think they get comped tickets for another show for attending and being loud. the comedians say it's kind of off-putting to get laughs at nothing statements.

chelsea peretti who's special was pretty dece has a kinda funny way to mock the crowd shots. they cut to dogs and people sleeping instead of the typical slack jawed knee slapping yokel

I watched a Bill Burr one on netflix and it was real good. I think it was the same one because I didn't notice any crowd shots now that I think of it. Thats a nice touch because it felt more like a live show. It was the one I just started seeing plastered all over the front page on netflix

He rolled through here like a year or two ago and it was the first time I heard of him. My buddy was mad pissed he couldn't get tickets. He's been on my radar to go see but I haven't really kept up with him to know his tour dates.

I'm trying to remember the name of one that I watched on Netflix with a friend last summer but when they cut to the crowd I was pretty sure it wasn't the actual crowd in the theatre. The audio mixing felt a bit off and the lighting didn't seem to match up. It wasn't very good either. The first half hour was all parenting jokes like "kids lol" and then we shut it off.
