oh ok thanks man. bank preference? im with TD right now
- Apples

I'm with TD as well and have no complaints. In fact their go to mutual fund they generally recommend has many high level investors from the energy sector(Suncor) to banking institutes(RBC is the second highest investor in the fund) so if big corporations and actual market competitors invest so heavily in their fund chances are it's a solid MF for sure.

They will also show you how well it preformed over the years and I'm pretty sure the only year it wasn't around at least 7 to 8% was during that huge market collapse in 2008 but it was still among the highest preforming mutual funds during that heinous year and rebounded in 2009 at like 14%

Anytime an employer matches any contributions make sure you max it out and take as much free money as you can from them rich bastards. If they are giving it away, take it while it's there.
- Cape Breton Bruins

Always. I'm already maxing out. I'll be retired at 50 if I want. If I wait until 60 I can move to like Jamaica or something.

They gave me 2 other RRSP options. Like a group one and another one. I've been putting in the other one. Money goes in pre taxes so it lowers my cheque to the point I drop a tax level. And when I withdraw its at like 20% tax vs like 35% or whatever

You will not retire at 50 at the current rate of inflation vs value of currency unless you are making $200,000 per and invest heavily in moderate to high risk funds and hit it good. That is unless you never plan on being a home owner or having children who will attend school and university or traveling and stuff like that.

I would guess the retirement age will be around 70 by the time I look to get out(by age 62-65) due to the fact that their will be more old people than young people by then and our economy will be dependant on people working longer and immigration so expect your investments to tame 20 years from now because there will be so few people contributing to our economy opposed to those not working and relaying on the health care system, which will be strained due to the fact that these retired workers will live longer and not contribute for like 30 years after they retire.

It's not going to make anybody rich, but should facilitate a comfortable retirement without losing the same standard of living. Just in time for me to die after 45 years of manual labour

hey me too.
i don't ever spend change, i put it in a ziplock bag then go to those change machines every 3-4 months and get cash back, it's like free money. 5 years ago i bought 10 lottery tickets, lost on every single one. the next time i bought a lottery ticket was 1 month ago, didn't win a thing again.

my plan is now to buy this one ticket where the prize is you get 1000 bucks a week for the rest of your life. i'm bound to win some day. just gotta buy a ticket.
