Just off the top of my head, players who were considered busts after being drafted and went on to be ppg players, but not until after they were 23 or older: Both Sedins, Horten, Vanek, St. Louis, Joe Thorton, Datsyk, Franzen, Zetterberg, You could probably go on all day if you googled it. - Pecafan Fan
In what universe do the Leafs no talent?
I fail to understand the ridiculous comments set fourth by these trolls that have nothing better to say than "Leafs Suck!"
7 years of not winning has to produce some positives for the club.
There's plenty of talent on the club, and in the farm.
Gardiner, Kessel, Reilley, McKegg, Biggs, Blacker, Kadri, Lupul... are just a few players I can think of off the top of my head.
The Leafs do not suck, but they have a GLARING hole up the middle that Bozak can't fill.
What the leafs really need is a top flight C.
I hope BB throws all kinds of $$ at Getzlaf next year.
I'm not even convinced that the Leafs need a G
Trade for LU if it makes sense.
If one of these things happen, the Leafs are playoff bound. |

I think youre really knitpicking here. Kadri is in his third year of the AHL only because of a lockout. Bobby Ryan for one didn't play in the NHL for at least two years. Burke likes to keep his guys in the minors, right or wrong, Kadri most likely would have made the NHL as a rookie under another manager.
I respectfully disagree with you becaue the guy is just so talented. Plus, you are not considering the Ron Wilson factor, which is basically, Willson eats rookies alive.
I am really glad you (or whoever it was) bothered to hit up wikipedia to "prove me wrong" but my point stands, Kadri is being developed with patience and had he been given ice time and turned loose as a rookie, he most likely would have had 40 or so points, maybe more. It doesnt matter where these guys were drafted, the MAJORITY of players who end up being ppg players do not step into the league as 18 year olds. The VAST majority of them take a year or two in the minors, folowed by a couple of seasons of growing pains and become high scorers in their mid twenties.
To say that the majority of nhls who are starts become stars by the time they are 21 is patently ridiculous. It barely warrents comment except to say its very, very silly. - Pecafan Fan

I'm sure I'm super late on saying this, but I found my silver lining to the Winter Classic being canceled. Yes, even in a locked-out season, the Leafs managed to lose a game.
I thought it was rather clever so I am sharing, however late I may be. |
