He has to have players in front of him to accomplish that, teams like Toronto don't currently have that.

If you were told that you could get a goalie that could get you in the playoffs every season and win 2 cups in the 10 years he is with your team would you take him for Lou's contract?
- thundachunk

Unfortunately, you can't actually tell me that, so....

I think Bozak and Reimer would probably be the deal from what the Media as rumouring here.

If Luongo hasn't retired by the time he is 39 he will be put on LTIR with concusion like symptoms for the rest of his career like Pronger. The only players Bettmans proposal will hurt are other players still paying insurance rates. Hossa Keith Luongo all magically have concusions when they approach 40 .

I'm a big fan of lower back pain.

Impossible to disprove, but you don't have to pretend you are sitting in dark rooms for days on end. You can still go out and be seen in public (probably better not to go skiing, but other than that, you can do anything).

"Hey _______, how are you feeling? Any chance you come off LTIR?"

"It's still really day to day. I feel well enough to walk to the bank to cash my pay cheques, but if I put on skates, it just puts too much stress on my lower back."

at first sight was interested. a couple of those guys id be ecstatic to move, especially for a guy of lu's caliber. it would feel like highway robbery.

but it always comes back to the same thing after thinking about it.

i hate that contract, and just dont want it. for anything really. much rather give dubnyk the shot at number 1. especially with his term.

just my opinion

Hey Ian what are your thoughts on Lou to Toronto being a much bigger deal then was originally thought ? I heard through the grapevine it might be REALLY big !! Lou, Edler, Raymond for Colbourne, Phaneuf, Frattin and Ashton plus a pick. Any thoughts on that ? Edler is in final year if contract

I dont like any Lu deal that includes MPS.

The Oil are not giving up Moroz either.

I think Van fans are delusional if they think any team is giving up a first rounder this year. The draft is way too deep and if it goes the full season without a deal then there will be no draft. The year after that would have an absolutely insane draft class.

Only deal I do if I'm the Oil. Horcoff, Eager, Tuebert for Lu. Anything else far aff that I'm not interested.

Why not ? I think that is fair value Edler is a better Dman then Phaneuf IMO

That's fine and well, but Edler has 1 year left on his deal and Raymond is a dime a dozen player. The upgrade from Phaneuf to Edler is marginal, and certainly not worth 3 quality prospects.

Feel free to disagree, but I pass on that deal 10 times out of 10.

Ok I respect your input and opinion. But... I could see it being a bigger trade than originally thought. Just cause it is Burke : )

It wouldn't surprise me to see a bigger deal, the egos on Burke and Gillis could stir up some interesting talks for sure.

I'd like to see a full blown blockbuster. Maybe a Lu and Kesler for who the hell knows lol.

He knows, i spoke with him last night. He said he had no intention of trading for Lu. He said, as far as he's aware, it's just journo's looking for hits that bring it up everyday.

Burke stated to me, his 3 main causes for concern, were his smell, dancing and contract length.

it would be a MASSIVE longshot.

if uve had a first overall in the last 3 years.......
u only get 1 ball in relation to other teams 3.

playoff appearances is the next deciding factor.

cbj, toronto, nyi and maybe 1 or 2 others i believe would be the only teams with 3.

another reason im hoping for hockey! while i think the oil might be much improved this year. still think they prob on the outside looking in for a playoff spot which could be a decent pick in the top 15. could be as low as 30 if its a lottery from top to bottom

Gillis has to start to rebuild, soon!....in 1-2 yrs from now....most of our top line players..will be decline.....Keslers-injury..and others AGE factor....and if we dont have a season this year...that takes away a years chance at the grail

I could be mistaken, but I thought the draft order was in relation to standings in the last season. I didn't think previous "1st overalls" had an effect on the amount of balls a team received.

Hope you're right though, couldn't handle seeing Edm add McKinnon to that mix.

They may very well still suck. It won't be long before they are absolutley dominant, but they may still be in that develpoment phase. Don't expect them to go from the poorhouse to the penthouse... their glory will come in stages.
