If he's not rushed, he should be a great pick! - LeftCoaster
In three years with Luongo Gardiner Rielly and Franson that will be a nice combo on the back end. They just need to get one more solid D and Leaf Fans will be excited |

The only team to not make the playoffs during the last CBA, Leafs, better hope for better things during the next one!
In all seriousness though, whatever that is, Rielly looks to be a solid pick for Burkie. Every once and awhile he's bound to get it right! |

The truth is Burke did a lot of things righ for Vancouver. He also gave away a lot for nothing. The twins signing could have been his finest moment .That was a decade ago and he wasn't as loud and obnoxious back then. If he shuts his mouth and chills a bit he is not a bad GM . He is getting a little old now with his thinking but all in alll still effective.

yes it must have been very difficult to pick 2nd and 3rd overall that year, hard to get those top three picks correct most times. |

I am not sure why you are laughing . Scrivens is letting in 4 goals a game in the AHL ,he is years from being ready. Reimer can not be counted on as a good #1. Luongo had one of his best years last year and won 35 games with a keystone Kops D in front of him.
I think TO will surprise some teams this year. I am sure they will pick up a player or two this year and JVR and Gardiner are two good building blocks. |

Schneider is better younger and cheaper and does not have a long contract. Not hard to figure out.
Leaf fans have said it many times we gon't need 9 million for a goalie. |

Butterfly style stings NHL goalies
http://www.theglobeandmai...ies-bodies/article610625/
Former NHL netminder and current Hockey Night in Canada analyst Kevin Weekes said being a butterfly goaltender is incredibly taxing and complex, and comes with issues and injuries many don't yet fully understand.
"I definitely think there's a correlation between the injuries and the butterfly style," Weekes said, adding that trainers have only recently begun developing effective routines to prepare goaltender's bodies to drop down to the ice 300 or 400 times a day in practice and games.
Butterfly style takes toll on goalies' bodies
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/...2/04/f-goalies-part3.html
Former NHLer Glenn Healy, who played a standup style during his 14 years in the league, believes most netminders go down on every shot in practice and games.
"Stand in your driveway and go up and down on your knees on a mattress 300 times a day," said Healy, now director of player affairs with the NHL Players' Association. "Do it for 10 years and see how you feel. It has to affect you physically.
"At what point, whether it's hip or groin, does your body break down when you're asking it to do that day in and day out, year in and year out?"

Haven't seen anyone voice concern about all the mileage Luongo has put on those butterflied joints. Buyer beware.
